235/70r16 or 225/75r16. Trading in one of my kj's for an wk and I'd like to keep my general grabbers to put on my other kj. I'm north of Boston and am trading it on Wednesday July 18. Thanks!
No pictures because I would be embarrassed by the hack job I did.
I simply used a cut off wheel and trimmed off where I could se the tires had rubbed. It was a small area at the top middle of the flare, only about 1/8" thick. Then I banged back the lip of sheet metal behind it just to be...
Soft 8 397 Series Wheel
Finish: Black
Size: 16'' x 7''
Bolt Circle: 5 x 4-1/2''
Rear Spacing: 4''
If you can find 4.5" like TJJK2002 says that's probably a better call. Judging by his KJ he probably knows a whole lot more about this than I do.
Somewhere on here or lostkj there are...
Thanks-- Unfortunately mine are rubbing when the rear axle bounces over a bump while turning with an empty Jeep. I cut about 1" off the flares and bent up the sheet metal and its better but still there.
Does anyone else have this problem? Does it eventually result in damage?
Will...
The 16x7 soft 8 has 4" backspace-- I think that would really push the tires pretty far out. I think the outside of the tires would be outside the flares.
I trimmed the plastic flare about 3/4" and bent up the small metal lip. It seems to have helped but one side still hits when turning into a parking lot with a steep angle. There doesn't seem to be any damage, just a noise.
Does anyone else experience this?
My 245/70/r16's on 16x8 cragars 5" BS hit the rear flare and a little bit of the fender lip when I hit a large bump. No damage but a BAD noise. It appears that only about 1/8" of flare and a tiny bit on metal is in the way.
Has anyone cut away this area? Any hints?
Surprisingly they...
actually they do rub
Hi-- When I hit a bunp at speed, like pulling into a lot with a steep ramp, the rears rub pretty bad. No damage but a bad sound. I am going to do some trimming tomorrow, but I may need a small lift.
I definitely have a tire pressure monitoring system because it chimes and an idiot light goes off on the dash when I air down off road. The way it was explained to me was that 02-04 the TPMS is in the valve stem and need to be calibrated with a magnet. O5 Sports have a system that is in the...
I went with 245/70r16 General Grabber AT2 on Cragar soft 8 16x8 5" backspace. They look sweet, ride great, and so far the rubbing is minimal but definitely there.
Here's some more shots. I had to delete the before to fit them.
The pictures don't do justice to how much more aggressive it looks.
The ride and handling are improved, and the rubbing is very minor so far.
I did lose a little acceleration though.
No lift.
I'll take some more pictures and post them later.
I can't feel or hear any rubbing, but I can see where the front tires have rubbed the plastic cladding on the pinch weld and a little in the front. So far its not a problem though, and no rubbing in the back.
Everthing I read said that the 16x7 (4" backspace) space the tires too far out. As it is they are just about flush with the outside of the flare. I was surprised these rub since people run the 16x8 Moabs with 5" Backspace with no rubbing. So far the rubbing is minor, but if its a problem...
Hey-- Before and after. 16x8 Cragar Soft 8 5"BS with 245/70r16 general Grabber AT2's.
They really fill out the wheel wells nicely and my Lib finally looks like a real Jeep. They are very quiet and make the Jeep ride quite a bit smoother and stick to the road better. I love the way they...
tpms on 2005
If anyone is following this I had them mounted on my 05 Sporttoday. The tire guy said that the TPMS was not in the tire or wheel and must be part of the hub. I didn't believe him, but they are mounted and no light or chime went off so he must be right. They look sweet too!
black center caps
http://www.rockratz.com/
This place has black center caps and lug nuts. They don't list them for a Liberty, but I bet they would fit.
I am getting my Cragar's mounted today. I am going to go with no center caps and spray the hub with Rustoleum. I don't like the look...
