I had the same issue myself, the bolt in the rear was rusted in place. I had to remove my grill, rad, airbox, and a few other things in the way. I got a long punch about 12in long and a 5 lb mini sledge with a short ass handel and beat it out of there. I tried cutiing it and heating it but got...
A couple more pics that I couldnt upload with first batch. 15yrs this jeep has never let me down, I drove it to where I parked it for its heart transplant. And yes there were a few complications along the way
But she is alive and well again. People keep asking me why I keep wrenching on this...
Well to finish this thread I opted to change the tone ring and reluctor wheel. Here are a few pics of the the fun, threw it back together and it fired up almost instantly. Ran a bit rough for a few min as the computer was reset and all data cleared, but it soon smoothed right out and runs like a...
Found this if you dont feel comfortable doing mods yourself. Couldnt figure out how to post actual link but im sure u can figure it out from there. In fact I might just pick one of these up myself to make my life easier and tell you how it fits in a week or so.:)
Turn your key on and off 3 times quickly and then 3rd time leave it in on but not start and it will show your codes in odometer. If you see P0340 or P1391 its most likely cam or crank sensor.
Unfortunately there are really no direct replacement radio/nav system. Im looking at doing this very upgrade myself soon and unfortunately its going to take a little work with a dremel tool or something like that to make it work and look nice. You need to look for a double din radio/nav you like...
There is a very small possibility that you have a messed up bearing in the front diff on right side and when you turn the wheel hard one way its putting stress on bearing causing it to move slightly out of its races. And then giving drag on one wheel, could shift back into place and go away then...
Im going to agree with the previous post now that you given a better description of whats happening, 4 wheel drive wouldnt cause drag on only one wheel. I missunderstood what u meant by drag on the wheel so a wheel bearing possibly and there is usually some noise to go with that as well. Also...
If you are stuck in full time and have select track moving the wheel hard side to side should cut the 4 wheel drive which from what you say is the opposite of what you are experiencing. Maybe something is happening to make it work in reverse, it engages 4 wheel drive when it should be cutting...
I have selec trac, called it sensa trac in another post by accident. It automatically disengages your 4wheel drive as soon as you hit 50km/hr or if it notices allot of steering wheel input with little speed like in parking lots. That way your not fighting the 4 wheel drive when parking because...
Honestly it sounds like that garage is trying to take you for a ride, Ive been thrashing these 3.7l in jeeps and trucks for the better part of 20 years, and I have definitely blown a few of them up in some pretty interesting ways and I have not seen a cracked block yet. I would definitely get a...
Only early model jeeps 2002-2004 that had select-track had that hose. Its meant to cut the 4 wheel drive in parking lots when it notices allot of steering wheel imput and low speed. Your select-track 4x4 setting will not work correctly without sensor in hose. Maybe 2005 as well but im not sure...
Update: So after much hair pulling and and new cam and crank sensors I think I finally have my have my answer and its not what I was expecting. I tested all my grounds, I tested from the plugs all the way back to ECM as well as testing for a constant 5v on both outside terminals of both cam and...
Ok thanks thats actually super helpful I will check all that out later today and let you know what I find. Guess im going to find the posted manuals you were talking about and start chasing wires....oh what fun!
Oh yes it ran beauitifuly the donor jeep was in very good mechanical shape and drove it to where I parked it 3yrs ago. Had a trashed interior and body need work. My 2005 I am second owner bought it at 35000km was still running when it had a catastrophic head gasket failure and still started and...
Hello I have been a member for a little while but have never posted before today. I started a thread earlier but realised it was in wrong section so im reposting here. So recently my 2005 motor grenaded and I swapped in a 2006 motor from a parts jeep I have. I put in 2005 crank/cam sensors in...
