    4x4 lever not engaging

Hi everyone - I have an 03 Liberty Renegade with the Command Trac transfer case. I recently had to rebuild the cv joint on my 4x4 driveshaft. While the driveshaft was removed the floor lever popped up and for a while would not push back down into the 2wd position. I eventually got it back...

    2003 Liberty 3.7l 4x4...tow rating?

@dude1116 - thanks for the suspension info. It all feels in pretty good condition still but I'll check into it as I cannot tell myself that well what condition they are truly. @TwoBobsKJ - This is awesome info about sway control and thank you for it. I was suspecting this would be the case...

    2003 Liberty 3.7l 4x4...tow rating?

Similar Question Hello everyone! I have a similar question as the Original Poster so I'll piggy back on this threat... I have an '03 Liberty Renegade addition that I want to tow a camper trailer. The specs are: 23 feet 3500 lbs trailer weight 500 lbs tongue weight I've already...

How To: Change front driveshaft / change a driveshaft head

Good advise guys. @TwoBobsKJ - that bracket is what was holding back the shaft from removal in the first place so I'm assuming with your advise to remove it I'll have the little extra clearance needed to get back in, thanks for the tip. Gonna go out and wrestle with it again this afternoon...

How To: Change front driveshaft / change a driveshaft head

I just bought this Liberty last year, and I don't know but maybe this is an aftermarket exhaust system (doesn't look like it though) but I don't have that freedom of route you guys are explaining. The front CV has some play but not enough to get past the exhaust pipe. Super frustrating. My next...

How To: Change front driveshaft / change a driveshaft head

Question about removal and re-install: I see the the pictures from this tutorial that the exhaust line goes right under the front joint (as does mine). That combined with the black brace under the rear joint was making it impossible to remove the shaft from the space it's in. Has no one else...

4WD noises and not engaging 03 liberty

I think I found the problem guys...hah. Jeep drives fine without the 4wd shaft so I don't think any other damage has been done it. Part store only sells the entire shaft. Does this part look recognizable to anyone?

4WD noises and not engaging 03 liberty

Ok I'll try pulling it tomorrow and drive it around. I also found some good tutorials about rebuilding the CV so if it seems bad I'm going to take care of that too. If it is the CV on the back of the front drive shaft, can I expect the 4wd to work once rebuilt (assuming I do it correctly)?

I'm unclear, will the truck drive with that shaft removed?

4WD noises and not engaging 03 liberty

Attached photo is the return drive shaft from the transfer case in the middle of the jeep. I took off the front left tire to spin the rotor and replicated the noises with this rotation. The noise is clearly coming from this drive shaft in the picture on the transfer case side. Edit: Noise...

4WD noises and not engaging 03 liberty

Thanks for the responses! Tried to run an errand today in 2wd and the noises/vibrations are now happening in 2wd as well. Went to the mechanic to pick his brain and he took it for a test drive and thinks it's possibly a "u joint" in the front. I take it in monday for a $100 diagnostics and...

4WD noises and not engaging 03 liberty

Hello all, first time poster looking for some help troubleshooting my 4WD issue. I have an 03 Liberty Renegade with the Command Trac transfer case. 3 weeks ago I took a long drive home (about 10hrs) on a mix of ice, snow and dry roads with my "part time" engage a lot of the way going 40ish...
