I think some of you have gotten the wrong idea, I have no intention of trying to go extreme with this thing (such as rock crawling like some lizzard) or wallowing in a mud bog (like swamp thing)..as fun as it looks. But I do want to make this thing able to get me into my favorite...

No, I got: 1) what my budget could afford, not the dealer. 2) what fit me best--the headroom, legroom isn't bed AND I don't have to squat down to get in it. (I'm 6'6'"). 3) I just like trucks/vans/etc...my other choices includes a LaSabre, malibu and powderpuff blueish/white new beetle.

besides, the 4x2 is what I could afford, SOME of us (me) aren't made of money to through at a dream machine...if I could I'd get the diesel version, despite what CARB (California Air Resourses Board) thinks.... The libby replaces a plymouth voyager that had 236,407 miles before giving up the...

Ok, nay sayers on 4x2 abilities, check this 'classic footage' out... Model T fords...from back in the day ...4x2's ...about 15-25 HP ...rolling on what amounts to mountain bike tires (2-4" wide) :icon_twisted: hehehehehehe...

Actually, no...getting stuck made me feel like reckless teenager afraid my parents would find out that it had both of us laughing so hard we couldn't stand up straight.

first week I had it, I pulled into a perfectly flat, grassy field next to the railroad tracks here, just 'to see' (and impress the gril I was taking home from dinner)...aaaand promptly sank to my axels...:disgust:I guess I didn't think about the heavy rain we've been having up to the day...

4x2 KJ 's off road (we can too)

I found threads for toyota prerunners, FJ 4x2's, even xterra 4x2 (included links to back up my case) that they can be made into (atleast) fairly off-roadables. And yet, as I lurk around here, it's always 4wd this, 4wd that, 2wd isn't nothing but soccermom's grocery store ride...you can't do...

I was surprised at the room they (new beetles) have, but after driving trucks and vans most of my live, I feel like I have to squat down to get in them and is dragging my butt on the ground and some how the ride seems....hmmmm...."mushy" to me. what's the exchange rate with you guys now? bet...

I used to have a '77 GMC 4x2 suburban (tow package and ambulance doors), 454 motor...the thing was a beast, I inherited it from the folks when they got a minivan, as a kid we towed 35' airstream all over canada and the us wit it and I loved that thing...I had to sell it when it cost nearly $100...

not the "new beetle"...it's nothing but a passat in drag. true dubs have rear AIR COOLED engines, no AC, crappy heaters, and a fanatic following... standard bugs make good baja's...supersbugs are for german and california look rally/race cars.
