Engine Idles rough
I've got a 2.4L with around 46k on it, but this question might apply to everyone else as well. I have started to notice that the engine idles kind of rough when the engine is warm. When its cold, it revs around 1000rpms and its fine. I also noticed that my gas mileage was about 3 mpg lower...- deknight

4wd Drive Shaft Boot
ugh $500?!%@ I knew this jeep was going to be the financial death of me... ha ha. I am going to try putting new grease in it, then do a patch. I think the boot may be made of that soft flexible plastic and not "Rubber" but a patch is worth a try. Thanks everyone!- deknight

4wd Drive Shaft Boot
Does anyone know the part number for the front drive shaft boot? My parts catalog doesn'ty show it. There are two boots on the four wheel drive front drive shaft and as I was looking under the jeep today I notice the boot closest to the front differential had a hole in it. Clutch/Dealership Issues
I just read the service manual, and under the section for servicing the clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel no where does it say they need "NEW" bolts for the Flywheel. It only says: Caution Use only Factory Bolts... so unless the pressure plate bolts were damaged he shouldn't of had to use...- deknight

Yeah thats all everyone told me at the dealership when I bought it, but I kept telling myself that I can make a clutch last a long time considering all the cars I ever owned were manuals and I did pretty well with those. I will talk to the guy when i go pick it up and see what he has to say...- deknight

I have a 2.4L 5 speed. Just take care of the clutch because when it comes time to service it, it will be expensive. Especially if you take it to the dealer like I did. Not a fun experience. As far as the engine, its a great engine, it just doesn't have enough power for the Liberty...- deknight

I have a 5 speed sport with 38000 miles on it. Lately the clutch has been slipping, especially when the transmission is hot. So I take it to the dealership and they tell me that I need a new clutch and that the old one is totally worn out. (I didnt think I drove it that hard...) The guy says...- deknight

Who shot my Jeep??!!!
In my neighborhood people drive around and will shoot out one of the windows, (usually in the rear). Then they stop down the street and watch to see if anyone comes out. If not, they break into the car. I don't know if that is what happened in your case but its always something to keep an eye...- deknight

roof basket install
If you bought the whole assembly then it will come with everything that you need. I know its possible to order various parts for the roof rack separately so make sure you are getting the whole thing. It just clamps on to your existing roof rails. Then you tighten the clamps with torx screws...- deknight

Noise in 5th Gear....
For anyone who has the 5 spd manual, or maybe even 6. Do you notice a slight rattling noise coming from the transmission when you are in 5th gear? I have a 2004 sport and for me, the noise isn't that loud, almost like I shifted into 5th too early, but I will be going 65+. All the other gears...- deknight

4-Pin Trailer Harness
Has anyone installed the 4-pin trailer towing wiring harness? I bought one on ebay and it doesn't have the instructions. Do I remove the interior trim panels (in the cargo area) on the passenger side or the driver's side to plug it in? The article in the how-to section just said it was "easy"...- deknight

Thanks for your help everyone! I checked and I already have the black mounting bracket and the temp. sensor, now all I need to do it wait for the parts to come in the mail. I think I will run the power wire off of the radio instead of through the fuse panel, it shouldnt matter right? Anyway...- deknight

Anyone else dislike the climate/blower controls?
For everyone who doesn't like the a/c controls on the 02-04 models, you can put the a/c controler from a 05 in and have the a/c button separate from the recirculating function. I just did it on my 04 and it works perfectly. Now I don't know for sure if it will work on 02's and 03's but it was...- deknight
