I cleaned the throttle body yesterday afternoon. It was in need of a cleaning but wasnt the worst I have seen. I also just replaced the IAC with a new one.
I did fine that one hose coming from the air box that sits on the throttle body, on the passenger side I had a hose that ran to the back...
I cleaned the IAC a couple months ago. I sprayed the IAC with carb cleaner and cleaner it off really well. I then sprayed a rag with carb cleaner and wiped out the port as well as I could. I let everything dry and when I fried her up she ran a little higher rpm for about a minute and then she...
+1 on the snap ring pliers!
Even with the heavy duty snap ring pliers I had some issues getting that snap ring on that holds the coil on the compressor nose. The snap ring kept twisting on me and I couldnt get my fingers in there to make sure it was in the groove.
I was curious if maybe the fuel treatment may have had something to do with it. Since it wasn't doing it when I had it idling for charging the AC.
Update: after letting it sit for a few hours I went out and started it. Temp gauge was showing it was at the 1/4 mark for engine coolant temp...
HJ, it has 137k on it and I havent cleaned it since I have had the last 19k, so I am going to guess it has never been cleaned. I will take that off tomorrow afternoon and get that cleaned up and see if that helps. I figured it was probably something along those lines or a possible bad IAC/TPS.
Started today. Made a 6 hour round trip and on the way home I noticed when I came to a complete stop ( stop light/ stop sign) the idle would be erratic. It was on the low side and felt like it was fighting to stay running. About a block away from the house it did it and it almost died, I hit the...
removed front driveshaft last night, CV joint is shot
While the driver's tire was up in the air (and driveshaft removed)I decided to see if I could hear the popping noise with me turning the tire by hand. I heard it a few times but it was not consistent. I could turn the tire once and hear...
At least you have it narrowed down now!
I removed the front driveshaft after work yesterday. The boot on the CV joint is torn all the way around and the CV joint takes some pressure to move. My experience driving it this morning was with windows down I heard road noise at around 30-40mph. I...
Given that I have no idea if it was ever changed I am going to pull the driveshaft out and order both ends just to be safe and have it done. I also looked over the recommended HOW-TO sticky and understand what needs to be done.
Now that being said, I know I can drive it without the front...
I was going to do my wheel hubs because I dont know when they were done last. and same with the CV axles, plus i have a popping sound when turning.
My noise could very well be tires as well, I just know that to me it sounds like off road tires, but I hear in the cabin of the vehicle more...
I have the same noise when I am driving mine. Sounds like off road tires at around 65-75mph. There is no shimmy in the steering wheel or vibrations like you would feel with an out of round tire. Since I first heard it back in November/ December I have had the tires balanced and rotated and the...
Forgive my ignorance here, I am researching some information on the CV joint/axles.
I have always had rear wheel drive vehicles. The jeep is the first 4x4 I have owned (have had work trucks with 4x4 but they were always dealer serviced) and I am a straight up newbie to the CV axles/ joint...
I snapped the driver's side off. I figure from a few months of 230ish lbs pushing on it that it finally decided it had enough.
I wish I kept extra seats! lol Maybe once I settle down with traveling for work and get my own place then I can start getting those extra seats for when things like...
Just as the title says. I wish I had some cool back story for it but I dont. I was simply getting out of the vehicle and slid out of the seat and heard a pop and the seat side dropped a little. I turned around to find the seat handle had snapped off with the metal shaft inside it.
So my...
Have the new female plug ordered, should be here tomorrow. Dealer part.
Have the new fan coming in from NAPA tomorrow morning as well.
I zip tied the plug together so it held tight. drove it around town to get the parts ordered and she is running fine. Temp holding steady and I checked...
How concerned should I be
SO was making a drive earlier today and sitting at a light and looked down and noticed my temp gauge creeping up. Traffic started to go and I stopped at the next gas station about 1/2 mile down the road. The needle never went above the 3rd large mark ( 3/4 mark pretty...
That is what I was wondering if it was. I searched popping sound and came across a guy with loose lug nuts, one had a driveshaft.
It was the way it sounded that was throwing me off, it sounded very ,much like a rock in the tread but it was too soon before a full tire rotation. I will check...
Heard this a couple weeks ago and figured maybe it was a piece of gravel in the tread since I been in a gravel parking lot the day before and I also saw some small pieces in the tread.
Last weekend I changed the brakes and also removed any gravel pieces from the tread. I am still hearing...
But.... but... where is the bacon? There was talks of bacon and jeeps. I like my jeep liberty and I like bacon too.
Wait so mechanical things break??? I mean in all my years of working in cars and working with automated conveyor equipment I have always just replaced things cause I was bored...
