    Tranny trouble and mysterious rattling

    Just an update--turns out it was the heat shield on the front passenger side. Not sure why it sounded like it was coming from the rear, but it solved the chain-dragging sound issue.

    177,000 2002 5-speed Renegade...master cylinder, clutch, driveshaft, transmission, tires (x2), and now the throwout bearing is going. It's lucky I love it!

    recall for rear gas tank/trailer hitch

    Mine was included in this recall as well, haven't had anything done yet, but I've already got a class II hitch and skid plate over the gas tank. I'm not sure what more they can really do to protect it at almost 200k...if it gets hit anywhere it's done regardless xD

    So, mechanic checked out the tranny and removed the heat shield to fix the front rattling, but still couldn't determine what the rear rattling is. Now, on my way home tonight, I'm suddenly being dripped on. Anyone ever had to fix this before? I'm guessing it's rusted under the light bar...

    Hesitation on Hills?

    So I've noticed within the last year or so my Jeep has gotten so it really hesitates and loses speed on hills...it's not really a big problem but it is kind of annoying when I have to down shift two gears or so to make it up hills it used to go up just fine. Any ideas what might be causing it?

    Thanks guys--I already have an adapter for a 7 pin to a 4 pin because my Jeep has the 7 pin and our boat trailer has a 4 pin harness. It did come with the towing package so I'll have to look under the dash and do some more research. I just wondered because they're so darn expensive to get new =P
