Hello all. Spent the day removing the front left control arms, ball joints and hub for replacement. I have bought new parts including RANCHO RS55764 RS5000X Strut from Rockauto. The internet says this model number fits my 2006 Liberty. I am thinking they are too short, see pic next to the original shock. any insight would be appreciated.

I would agree, that will not fit a Liberty. Also, the spring seat looks to be too narrow, in addition to the whole unit being too short. Looks like they sent you one for a lowered and slammed Miata!

Push the rod on the old shock down and compare them then, The front shocks aren't very big.
I agree the seat looks underside though!

Pull the rod out of the shock - If I remember correctly the 5000 series shocks are not gas charged.

I read that the rod has to be released by turning counter clockwise, I'll give that a try. I'm sure I can make them work then, Thanks

Just did a quick search & it says it is compatible.

The photo is slightly different as the rod is extended.

Yes, thanks for checking. I compressed the heck out of the spring before realizing the shock had to be extended. Silly mistake. Last time I put shocks on was a classic Mercury Cougar.

I drenched my struts in lanolin rust prevention spray when I assembled them, doesn't attach rubber or plastic & sets into a hard waxy coating.
Seems to be holding up well.
