When did they start putting TPMS in the KJ?

What year KJ's came with the TPMS? When I got my new tires over the summer I remember having to pay extra for the install since the place said they replaced the TPMS sensors in them as well. Earlier, I lowered my tire pressure down to around 11psi and I did not get a light on or anything warning me of low tire pressure. So now I am wondering if I even have TPMS in my Jeep. I tried searching and from what I found it sounds like the 2006 should have them but I couldn't really find much info. Just curious is all though.

Turn the key to run,see the TPMS light turn on? If not you do not have TPMS.

Look at the valve stem on the wheels,is it aluminum? If not(meaning it's rubber) then no you do not have TPMS.

As early as '04 they started putting TPMS on the KJ's,it was part of a option package and became standard on '08 KK's,was never standard on a KJ.They also did not switch to the rubber valve stemmed TPMS sensors till like '10+.

Yeah I knew I didn't have it otherwise I figured it would have triggered. I can see where the light indicator is on the dash but no it doesnt' come on when in Aux with the key turned and the stems are rubber not metal. Just thought it was standard on it so thougth I'd ask.

***** I paid when I had the tires installed to have new sensors put in since cleary they didn't do that since I don't have that set up. They said they wouldn't do the isntall without putting new sensors in since I needed them. I didn't even really give it much thought until recently though.

I know on our system it defaults TPMS on some vehicles and some it asks if they have it and others it doesn't even bring up TPMS at all(the KJ falls into the last category).

Sad part is that the system should automatically apply TPMS to any vehicle '08+ since it's federally mandated but it does not.

I have the TPMS on mine and it is great but only if you keep your tires at the factory tire pressure other wise the stupid light comes on and so does the chime.

I added the EVIC with PSI in my 2002 and it used to chime that it could not find any TPMS sensors, now it just chimes to tell me the SpareTire is not being detected. I plan to get sensors installed when I replace the tires so I can monitor them.
