Alright so on top of a bad wheel bearing and needing new rear brakes, my e-fan decided to take a crap on me today. It spins freely on its own but when the engine is running it looks like it wants to turn but its stuck on something. Now my mechanical fan is working overdrive and it sounds like I'm driving a big rig.

Any ideas as to what could be the reason?

Silly question: are You still on the original e-fan? If so I guess it's time for a new one.
I know very well that nowadays we all are on a tight budget (verrryyy tight.. :disgust:) but we all know
that s..t just happens..
So it's probably time for a new one, only check whether You have the 2 or 3 pin connector but being
a MY 2003 I suppose it's a 2 pin, but You'll know when You unplug it.
Although I fear it'll be just for fun, You might be able to tell what was wrong once You have the old
fan off the vehicle.

Good luck!

Alright so I was looking at it today and it started up when i started the jeep, the jeep wasnt cold it was on the quarter mark. It then slowed down to a stop. Now does this sound like a normal function or not? I was about to head to pepboys to get a new one and I saw that it actually started up so i wanted to run this by you guys before I dropped $130

Before plunking down that kind of money, I'd hotwire it first to make sure it is the fan that's bad. If wiring the fan direct makes it run, it's a wiring or control issue.

Ok guys I'm pretty sure I narrowed it down to the fan clutch on the HD cooling fan since that turns all the time and with the engine now. Thank god its just that since its like 1/2-1/3 the price and easier to change (or so I've heard)
