I have an 05 Renegade and I'm thinking about replacing the Hella fog lights with a set of either KC Slimlite Fog Lights or Driving Lights. Do you think they'd be too bright to run on the road?

A lot of times those are illegal for street use. Ie, within city limits. But of course, each municipality is different. Back in the day I had a pair of yellow fog lights (true fog lights) on my 280z. Got a warning from a cop, but thankfully no ticket.

Think of it this way, if it would annoy you to see it coming, it's probably annoying other drivers. Now out in the country, that'll be a different story. You might just turn them off when oncoming traffic hits you on a lonely country road.

well that's why i was looking at the fog lights because they don't shine any farther forward than the dim lights but shine much wider than stock fog lights would
the driving lights shine much farther than the even high beam lights so they probably would be annoying to other drivers. but also these lights are 100 watts idk what my stock hellas are but i know they're not that much so id have to rewire them as well.

I believe the stock are 55watts. 100 watts are illegal to use on streets.

yes most are illegal even out on country roads have received tickets for running KC with 150s in them, no one else on the road except for a local sitting hiding waiting for speeders, then another time when the aircraft landing lights I was running on the EB hit the refective Ohio Highway Patrol decal over a mile away ...he was waiting for me when I got there:D:D:D

run some good fog type lights and it will help and will not get you into trouble:D

I've been nicked a few times. One timeI was politly handed a ticket for $196.00 for lighting up the side of a R.C.M.P. cruiser over one mile away with 960 watts of light!

Speaking of bright lights my co-workers are always ******** about how bright my el-cheapo Wal-Mart driving lights coupled with my headlights are. I get to work at 0530 FYI. Wonder how much they would cry about driving in with my Hella 500 FF's, high beams, and light bar running too. nana.gif\\:D/laugh.gif

I've asked the same question on another forum; http://www.nboffroadclub.com/viewtopic.php?t=5179

The answer depends on the Motor Vehicle Inspection rules in your area. In my area the rules limit the number of lamps, their brightness & the height from the road.

I have four 55W Hella500 driving lamps on my roof basket wired to my high beams. I keep the covers on during the daytime and use them sparingly at night hoping I don't get a ticket :D

Yup, I'm running Nokya Artic White 55W bulbs in my Hella500's but I've been told I could upgrade to 100W bulbs if I wanted to.

And yes the stock Liberty Renegade lightbar has 55W bulbs.
