Think of it as less of a "hitch for free" and more of an "rear impact absorption brace with accessory carry hole". I wonder if they'd go to the expense of putting in the wiring - doubtful as it isn't necessary for the protection.
I added an aftermarket hitch and wiring over 5 years ago and...
Yeah, I think so. On the top edge anyway. My interpretation of the instructions was the sheet metal screws would be used to secure the bottom edge of the panels, sort of compressing it a bit compared to normal. Once I had the plastic off I just decided to leave it that way so I never really...
I completely removed the plastic panels on my '05 and like the look. I haven't found a plug for the existing holes but they don't bother me at all. Not a very close shot, but here is what mine looks like from the side:
Don't fret, my wife didn't help at all other than making sure she could call 911 if the Jeep fell on me or something. A new strut probably costs a lot less than a divorce ;)
I fought to get the compressor out the the one "tower" I did myself. I used 790 springs too, which might even be...
As I posted elsewhere, the replacement was a piece of cake and took under 90 minutes. I THINK the noise is gone but haven't had an extensive road test yet. Easy project if you've been under there recently!
Did the passenger side today in under 90 minutes and the wubba wubba seems to finally be gone! Old intermediate shaft and right side cv axle came out with no problems and the new ones went in with no problems. I have only done a quick test but my Liberty seems much happier now!
The entire...
Maybe the fronts were assembled without the isolaters? Can you get a picture of one side on the front without the tire on just so people can gawk and maybe spot something?
Thanks guys! Shaft is on order and will be here Wednesday, right hand side CV axle will be picked up today. Looking forward to hopefully finishing up this project by the weekend!
Sorry to bump this old thread but wanted to ask the OP and others - so the shaft may come right on out with the axle, my question is was it a tough removal or was a pry bar enough to pull the axle and shaft? The Chilton's makes it sound like it's going to take a slide hammer to get the shaft...
Did the driver side today and it really wasn't horrible. It took a little over 90 minutes and I've never done one before so there was some extra wrestling. Note the how-to skips over removing the caliper and hanging it securely - I recommend doing this since the brake line could get yanked...
Strange the the front didn't end up taller in front. I would have thought you'd be closer to 23" on the front from what I understand. Did they not install the top plate or the clevis spacer or something?
About 5% different :D
Actually, the 245/75 is going to get you about 1/2" taller / 1" more in the diameter if I am not mistaken.
A 245/70 is going to about 245mm*.70=171.5mm tall in the sidewall
A 245/75 is going to about 245mm*.75=183.75mm tall in the sidewall
That's a 12.25mm...
Back from the alignment following the OME / JBA UCA / hub replacement and it's wubba'ing worse than ever. So it wasn't the hub. And it ain't the alignment.
Since it's worse now that I am back up to ~23" hub-to-flare, would that likely mean it's a CV axle or possibly the intermediate? If...
