Wife's 2002 Limited 4x4 has 68,000 miles on it. My '03 Adrenaline Edition SportTrac has 36,000 miles. Bought 'em both new with less than 10 miles on them. We've only replaced tires, front ball joints (recall), and the front brake pads. Everything else is original and like new!

Thanks for the info. However, I am still concerned that it is idling very slow. 500 rpm seems awful slow for a V6.

Is the engine idle speed adjustable on my 2002 Liberty Limited V-6? Or do I have another problem? Whenever I stop at a light, etc. with the lights and the rear defrost on, the battery light comes on. If I speed the engine up just a tad, it goes off. The engine idles about 500 rpm...

The clunk happens when I am still rolling, but slowing down to stop at an intersection, etc. It happens at very low speed <5MPH and is definately when the transmission is shifting from 2nd to 1st. It slams into first hard and fast.

Yeah, it just started doing this a week ago. It is quite annoying when it happens, and I can't help but thinking that something is gonna blow in the transmission... 8-[

My '03 Limited 4X4 has developed a frequent "clunk" and lurch when coming to a stop. It feels like the transmission is slamming hard when shifting from 2nd to 1st. Anyone else have this? Any idea what is the cause? My libby has 55,000 miles. I had the dealer flush the transmission...

Rogersjam is right on. Also, you don't need to prove that you have properly maintained your car for warranty. The onus is on the manufacturer to prove that you DIDN'T.
