Hey all,

I recently bought a 2002 KJ with only 24,000 miles on it. I've only replaced the windshield wipers, which I believe were original to the vehicle!

I was wondering what might be some tasteful mods I could do on it. I don't really want to lift it, nor put in LED lights... Just things to make it stand out, or make the interior look nicer. I was thinking about adding some underglow lights. Let me know what your thoughts are.

Thanks!

Tasteful-underglow lights ? mmmmmmm
What your taste maybe will be completely different than Joe Blows
So go at it , some will like it, some won't

For me ,an aftermarket, much better suspension is worth way more than most anything else since the stock suspension is terrible at 100 miles , at 24,000 and several years, Thats the first thing I would do after updating all fluids etc
But like I said it's yours go at it

Oh and you do not have to lift it to get a way better suspension, not sure why everyone thinks that

Taste is a matter of perception. As a wise man on here told me a while back. “Make it your own.” Unless you just flipping the vehicle, have some fun and do as you please.

I really dig the UniRed you got on this one!

Welcome to the forums.
IDK how you found a like new 02 with only 24k on it but good job! Can you post an under hood photo?
Ya I'm not sure about under body lighting, it's not legal on road, as it's distracting. I suppose at the mall it would be interesting.
One lighting mod I would try first is the way brighter 65 watt fog light mod. See this link: https://www.jeepkj.com/threads/fog-light-mod-to-65-watt-upgrade-02-04.58960/

Yep. For some reason (temporary insanity?) when I first got my Jeep I was briefly interested in all sorts of shiny stuff. Then I started thinking about what I wanted to actually do with it and realized that all that shiny stuff wasn't going to hold up well driving across farm fields to get to the pond and go fishing. For others, that would be a wonderful thing. It's all in what you actually want.

Here are some things I liked enough to do to mine:

Taillight Guards and Window Shades:

PlastiDip on the wheels and badges:

A giant roof rack:

Offroad lights:

(Those started life as a military Humvee's infrared lights. I replaced the lenses with two floods on the outside and two spots in the middle.)

Tow Hooks:

Paracord on the interior handles:

But - you may hate all of that. To each his own. I'd start by asking yourself what you want to use the Jeep for and go from there. :)

I tend to think in terms of function over form. I’ve got other projects that are all about looks, like a completely useless in Nebraska Cal Look VW bug…
I’ve done some things that suit my intended use. Sometimes they look cool, but Mostly it’s about budget, my personal skill levels, and will it get the job done.

however I’ve done stuff to my build strictly to make the wife happy…even though I neither wanted or needed to do so…

Wow! That vehicle is in pristine condition. Congratulations! I'm about to put new front hub assemblies on ours, a 2006 silver Limited just shy of 90,000. Ours was garage-stored and barely driven. We got it at around 65,000 miles. Love the vehicle!

Bought my 04 brand new, second day of ownership was looking up OME springs etc
Function and putting a smile on my face is better than any parts just for parts that look cool
The 03 I bought used , but already had JBA lift, JBA UCAs , 4.10 front and rear diffs, Moabs etc
knew there would be no way to make me like it until that was done and could actually stand to drive it
Stepson thought it would never run again when I tore into it LOL

Best most tasteful defensive mod I can ever endorse on these...

6 bolt style heavy duty hitch. With the idiotic drivers in this area of PA I have been rear ended 6 times. The last time was a F350 farm truck and it squashed my bike and bent my bike rack(both fixed) and the only vehicle damage was the tailgate. Parts yard had one same color for 50 bucks and it bolted right in no bends. Insurance for the whole debacle was 2100, mostly on the bike. If I didn't have the hitch it would have been terrible. Also had a Focus manual transmission ram in under power and it did no damage at all to me, completely removed the front end of the focus.
