My KJ so far is all stock, it is a 2005 model, I bought it new and I am happy with it, we have shared very pleasant moments with my family, throughout these years, weekends, vacations, ski seasons and also serving for 4 years as daily transportation to the university, he is one of the family.

I really don't understand why Jeep stopped making it so soon, this 4x4 with a version with some changes, for example, more robust axles, more current automatic gearboxes, sure with a bit of restiling (always round headlight and Jeep grill) it would continue to be sold on the market.

I have had several 4x4s and some Jeep, as a stalwart of the brand I do not like the new models.
Jeep should never have been sold, in my opinion. I understand that everything is modernized but before a 4x4 was manufactured to go to the mountains, now 4x4 are manufactured for the city.

Yeah I own a Export 2002 CRD Manual...picked it up new in May 2002.

Love it to bits!;)

The Jeep Service here in SA was never good but the sale to Fiat basically buried what Service there was. My local Agents do Jeep, Fiat, Alfa, Mitsubishi , Suzuki...maybe more!

I avoid them as much as is possible!

I bought my 04 new, lifted it before it ever had 20,000 miles
The 03 I picked up as a backup vehicle 4 years ago, had ordered JBA lift before I even found one to buy
within first week had lift, leather limited interior from another 03 , 4.10 gearing and Moab wheels etc
The 05 I bought for my stepfather , updated suspension about 6 months ago
But would not trade any of them for a new Wrangler or any new one for that matter

I do miss my old KJ. It was just about the perfect size for everything I needed to do with it.
Sure, it took a few upgrades to get it where I wanted it; but no more than my XJ.

The WK2 is nicer on the road and the technology is cool. But it hasn't been nearly as reliable as either the KJ or XJ. Upgrades are a lot more spendy also.

History will try to tell us that the KJ was not a worthy successor to the XJ. But we know better.
(at least I could close the doors on the KJ when it was at an odd angle.

I think my favorite two Jeeps ever made were the LJ and KJ

In my early years of off-road 90s I really liked extreme 4x4, a lot of danger and a lot of money ..., then over the years the flame of the extreme 4x4 went out and I dedicated myself to doing routes over the weekend.

I also did very fun routes of 3 or 4 days with the condition of not stepping on the asphalt, at this time I had a Wrangler YJ, over the years I was looking for something more versatile, a magnificent XJ 4.0 (AT) arrived and finally the Liberty , "today I would not change it for any of the above." ;)

I bought my KJ somewhat reluctantly. When I was looking to replace my 96 XJ in 2008, I spent a lot of time looking for another XJ (good condition 2000-01 with low miles) But they just weren't out there.

October 2008, I stumbled upon a 2004 KJ Sport with 50k at a dealership that was going out of business. It was one of 2 vehicles he needed to sell before closing the books and retiring. I offered him $9k for the Libby and he took it. I thought at the time that the deal was just too good to pass up and I would "make due" with a Liberty.

I set about making basically the same upgrades as I had done to my old XJ.
Basically, adding skid plates, tow points, better tires and a small lift.

Didn't take long before the KJ showed it's stripes and I was really happy with the Jeep. It would go anywhere the XJ did and was much more comfortable on the tarmac in everyday driving.

My XJ I already bought with the idea of more road than mountain, I put good BF All Terrain tires, koni shock absorbers, always well aligned the direction, but on some occasions it still suffered the unpleasantness, wobble of death, the XJ front axle if you travel fast is a box of surprises :), then the KJ came and the problems disappeared.
Although the design of the XJ with its square lines I liked, but it did not have round headlights, ha ha, yes I know, I'm a bit of a maniac

My girlfriend says ALL Jeeps need round headlights. Which she says is the only thing good abut the Renegades, lol
