Greetings from the UK,

Looking for help in obtaining the bolt size and type for the belt tensioner. I was going to replace the tensioner and belt only to find its rounded, got a mechanic coming Thursday to sort this but need to get replacement bolt.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I believe on the CRD the Tensioner Pulley Bolt is a Left Hand Thread....or one of the other pullies has it!

I have not personally changed the Serpentine Belt on my CRD...had the Dealers replace it and the cam belt every six years!

Do not know if the Gassers have a Left-Hand-Thread Bolt on the Tensioner but that would be a good reason for a rounded-off Bolt Head!

I will let the Experts on the 3.7 gasser here chip in.!;)

Thanks for that information, I will also purchase left hand thread bolts to be on the safe side, better to be prepared.

No let me look up the procedure for replacing the Serpentine bolt in the Manuals...they do point out when a bolt is a Left-Hand-Thread.
You need to get the correct strength bolt in any case and these Left-Hand Thread bolts are hard to find.;)

Ok the Service Manual for the 3.7 Gasser makes no mention of the mounting bracket being held on by a Left-Hand-Drive bolt for the tensioner assembly.

Go to section 7 Cooling Accesories for the 2005 3.7 Service manuals.

The tensioner itself is spring-loaded and must not be taken apart!

The idler pulleys are stated as being Left-Hand-Threads.
