DLC ground location

Hi guys, just bought an 07 liberty 4x4.

The engine light is on and I tried reading codes with my generic obd2 scanner however I seem to be having connection issues. The scanner has power but it just gets stuck at "waiting for vehicle to respond". The scanner works in 2 other vehicles. I searched the forum and did the multimeter test and everything reads fine on the obd2 port.

I also read to try cleaning the dlc ground located by the oil dipstick. I have gone under the Jeep to trace the dipstick but I cannot find where it connects to the engine. From up top there is also no space since it's very close to the firewall.

I took a photo of another ground up by the windshield cowel. Does the ground location vary by years? There are also 2 grounds under the brake reservoir.

Check all fuses under hood and interior panel as well.

Yes download the 2006 KJ Service Manual as above. Section 8W is the Wiring Diagram and gives the locations of all the grounding points...hopefully similar to the 2007 diagrams.

Thanks for the replies guys. Unfortunately I don't know how to read wiring diagrams, I did find the page on the 06 manual, and from what I can gather it's grounded to the "G100", which after some googling seems to be the main battery to chassis ground? I'll have another look around the engine bay when weather gets better.

G100 goes to chassis just below the PCM on the LHS. Best to disconnect the battery and pull off the PCM connectors to get a better view.
Should be a Black wire with Light Green stripe.

Check Fuse #33 on the inside fuse panel.

Best to check the battery terminals are clean and tight...use some sandpaper to clean the areas.

Check the negative lead going chassis is clean and tight both ends.

Check the two engine grounding straps from the cylinder heads to chassis are clean and tight all ends.

Has this thing ever had a heater core done? After I had the dash off when did mine I forgot to connect 2 ground straps under the drivers side kick panel. Airbag light etc. came on and some things didn’t work right. Realized my mistake, bolted them on, and no more issues.

Could anyone with an 07 model confirm the pins on the obd2 port? I only have 7 wires, my brother's 2004 has 8 wires.

2007 has pins: 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 14, 16

2004 has pins: 2, 4, 5, 7, 9, 12, 15, 16

Just want to make sure the port hasn't been played around with and got a wire in the wrong pin # or cut off.
