Thank God you didn't ask "What's the easiest v8 conversion to a KJ?" Or anything along those lines.

Can it be done: Yes.
Can it be done cheaply: No
Can it be done easily: Not likely
Is it worth it? Depends on how much cash you have left over in your bank account when done.

More details! Awesome work! You're in a group of about 2 or 3 that have done it.

Quite an interesting choice of motor. I assume this one has VVT? That's a 300HP monster right there. Now can you get it back together and running with all electronics in tact?

Which engine is it? It's upside down and I can only make out "V8 Four Cam" on the valve cover.. I dont recognize it otherwise. But it looks mean and nasty. :)

I didn't even see that. Confirms that it's a VVT. It's a Toyota 1UZ-FE. Says it right on the front cover. (Upside down of course)

Derr... you're right. I didn't recognize the engine code. Honda, Mazda, Ford, etc.. no prob.. but I was never that into toyota engines, just haven't owned any.

290-300hp @ 6000rpm, peak torque is 300-310 at 4000rpm ... man, that is definitely high revving, especially for a v8. As was said, unless this is a high-revving race truck, that's not super ideal power curves for a daily driver Jeep.

I'm sure it drives fine.. but I'm not so certain that would have been the best choice to install if not for a purpose built racer. Cool and unique though, for sure.

Of course two vague posts and the poster is not to be heard from. I don't understand these "V8 swap" people.

Because they don't work.

I can only confirm 1 V8 swapped KJ that works, sadly I can't disclose any info on it besides it's in the middle east and was done in Minnesota by a guy that made a Viper V10 look stock in a TJ.

No the owner just doesn't want his info spread,I had to pry like hell to get any info from the builder.

The main thing was it had to be SFA'd for it to correctly work and space issues with oil pans.

I enjoy seeing the builds, but I always remember the guy in Honduras that put a 4.7 in his and got it driveable but then regretted it since the rest of the vehicle didn't support it well.

SFA and the works completely fixes it I'm sure. But in a mostly stock KJ (just the usual lift etc), I'm convinced the 3.7 is the best fit for the vehicle.

Funny he lives a few blocks from my work now and I met him today,he was totally blown away that I was so close to him.

He did sell his KJ before moving back to the states.
