Was at the Jeep dealer for the heck of it and looking for T-Shirts...
Anyways, a salesman is checking out my ride & says nice lifted Jeep!
I know he really is on the hunt for something to do & starts the ole story of ever thought of upgrading?? Hmmm...
My reply was upgrading, I am not sure the new ones are that upgradeable!
So he says come have a look at the new trail hawk!
My reply was why, it is smaller and looks like it would break off road, & needs a lift & skids!
Oh the salesman says but it has new electronic select terrain dial, traction control for steep decents, TPS, etc etc etc....
My reply was you know.. I bought this Jeep cause it works well!
I never have to worry about not being able to power out because of traction limiting my control, I dont want ABS light faults,TPS dings, and oh I like the fact I have real 4 low with a handle, that does not cost 1000$ to fix when it gets errors.
You should have seen his face! :emotions34: LOL !
In closing, I reminded him that sometime less is way more, and BTW my Jeep is what I want to drive, not your new car like ones! :icon_razz: :happy175:

The new Cherokees are actually bigger than the KJ...about the size of a WJ. Didn't believe the specs till I saw them side by side.

I like my KL. It's not as campy as the KJ, but for what I use it for (DD in all weather) it works fine. The Trailhawks are cool, but man do they ride hard. I think the closest in spirit to the KJ is the Renegade Trailhawk. Had a new one as a loaner once, just a fun Jeep, it'd be a good size for wheeling.

Different Jeeps, different usages/capabilities but hey, you were just there to "upgrade" your t-shirt, right?......LOL

I've been debating getting a 2017 Rubicon and trading in the kj. Would that be an upgrade?

I'm really considering it. I have 2 vehicles to trade and I can afford the payment I just don't know if I really want to make the payment for the next 5-6 years

I've almost traded the KJ for a Wrangler a few times before I modded it/joined here. I like the 2 doors one, don't like 4 door ones much. Cool vehicles!

If my lift went smoothly I probably would be perfectly happy with my kj but it didn't and it still doesn't sit right. I've spent more time trying to get the lift right than I have spent out enjoying the Jeep which was the whole point in building it. So for me the love for the kj has faded a bit. Still very cool and capable jeep but I'm tired of trying to guess what's wrong with mine. I just want to go wheeling

From what I've read the pick up comes in 2019. Ive always thought a jeep pick up would be cool since i was in high school checking out commanches. But there are a lot of changes coming for it and my thought on that was I would like a tried and true JK opposed to a mostly new with potential for recalls JL. Orders for JLs start in September this year. No more roll cage in the cab, no more true soft top, rumors of new axles. They look cool but a new platform always has bugs to work out. If I order a JK in late spring it will be one of the last ones off the line ever.

Sad to see some go, happy that some are thinking of it ...................:happy175:
I used to buy a new pickup every 3 years, new Jeep every 4 or 5
That was until they starting costing more than my first farm did .
Ridiculous what they want now days for like a Rubicon or new Ram pickup, so will keep rocking older ones from now on. Wife wants a new Rav 4 or something similar but thats her money not mine. :emotions34::gr_grin:

Well you should already know that if a KJ isn't your favorite vehicle in the entire world then you'll get talked down to lol
I wouldn't even have a KJ if it would've been my choice, especially since they require so much money and work to get them to be decent
I don't even bother wheeling mine because I don't want to buy anything else for it, I've put way too much into it to not be in love with it and I'm not
I got the best lift that is reasonably priced (I guess) and it rides like ass
Everyone says theirs rides like a dream and I have no clue as to how, unless they came from a 1980 car or something
I bounce everywhere over bumps and feel like I constantly need to fix one thing after another just to get nowhere in improving ride quality
I can assure I will be getting a sporty car whenever I feel like buying one, and maybe riding on an actual Mercedes suspension instead of paying $2k for a KJ suspension to "ride like a Mercedes" :happy175:

Well since you are on a Jeep KJ site of course, go on any site ( say Fords and talk bad about them ) and see what happens. Go on Pirate for a few days , then come back where we are all friends and just like to joke around.
Me I like the size of the KJ, has enough power, takes me everywhere I need to go on and off road. Rode good with OME and does better with its " ride like a Mercedes " suspension.

OH and my KJ isn't my all around dream vehicle 68-70 Ford Bronco is above it , he 78-79 Ford F150 shortbed , but most Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 , so the KJ is somewhat down but still in the top 5 .
