Rivnut size/thread specs for skids mounting

What's the MOPAR rivnut size specs (6505294AA) thats required for tcase skid installation?

Reason I am asking is that all the MOPAR part dealers sell each for 3~4$ + ~20$ which puts me at around 30$ for 5 rivnuts (1 spare) while Amazon sells 20 pcs for 6$ or 100 for 14$ with prime shipping - I just need to know the right size/thread etc

Where it bolts onto the cross member just drill and run a bolt through, lots stronger and easier

and how exactly would I reach inside the crossmember to fit a nut from the other side?

Nah I think I'd stick with the manufacturer instructions, I just need to know the thread/diameter that's all.

If you google how to install nutserts/rivnuts there are some good videos on how to do it. There is also one that shows how to make a tool to install them, that tool is nothing like the amazon one you put the link up for that is a pop riveter

Yea I am aware of that, thanks! It can also be done with a bolt, nut with same diameter ,piece of sheet metal, washer and wrench.

The factory skids came with the tool (X) & 2 NUTSERTS. nutzerts?
Note manufacturer for the OEM was AVK industrial.

Reach inside? Drill clear through, bolt it on like I stated MUCH stronger than the way the factory installs them.
Did a lot that way, none ever came off
Seen the factory install ones come off though

Yeah, if you can get to the other side just use a nut and bolt. It is better like tom said.


If not, you need a nutzert. One thing with the nutzerts is that you need to be real extra careful not to not to over-torque them or they will strip and not work and you will have to drill it out and start over.


Nothing I have tells the size of the bolts/nutzerts, just the OEM part numbers as already given.


One thing to check is the OEM bolts/nutzerts are more expensive than the aftermarket ones. It might be that the OEM ones are graded bolts and the aftermarket ones are not. Big difference.

Last year I tried with that "How to" but it's quite hard !! I ended up to weld it.

I'm a bit unclear on this procedure. I look under the truck and the cross member seems to be a closed iron rectangle. How do I reach inside to place the nut?
Or do I need to drill all the way through and use a extra long bolt?
Guess I'm missing something here.


From what I understood inability to reach for placing nuts IS the reason for using nutzerts-

Drill clear through the cross member
on the frame rail you have to use those rivnuts but that way only buying a couple . plus like mentioned much stronger
