Ijust had a real disappointment the 2007 jeep liberty sport that we
were going to buy today did not go through. I asked the seller for
the vin so i could run a nada report on the jeep. I asked him
several times for the vin . He finally sent it to me this morning,
I ran it and the liberty had had 2 accidents. I called it off of
course, i never buy vehicles that have been in accidents.

I am starting from scratch looking for a liberty. I would like to have
your advice as to which year and which model, sport, limited, rocky
mountain,or renegade to buy. All years and models are available to me
locally. Thoughts anyone...Thanks in advance! John

I personally like 02-4s better due mainly to less BS electronic crap , although we do own an 05 as well.
As far as models go, basic structure is the same between models all those are is window dressing. Extra chrome , some have leather seating etc. ( 02-04 Leather seats are way better then 05 -07 )
Of course 05 Renegades have that flat hood that some like
Gets down to what you like, which transfer case you like, if you like chrome and doodads or not

I think my 05 leather seats are just fine comfort wise and I have a "bad" back. Feel as nice as the ones in my WK did, as the LR3 ones do etc. Worth sitting in both.

But I'd go 02-05 personally. 06 or 07 if there's an exceptional deal with low miles.

Yep manual and a lift on 07s just don't work well

it's not the lift. it's the computer just absolutely ***** for listening to me when it comes to throttle application. I've been driving stick for all of my driving "career" and i've never had a vehicle that is so prone to stalling because the computer refuses to give revs when commanded. the lag is deplorable.

The 2007 we were going to buy was a manual trans. Good thing we did not
buy it. I would hate having the problems you are having with yours Sota.
I like the idea of less electronic stuff on the 02-04's. A few of you have 05's as well.
I'll look in the 02-05 range. I wish craigs list had more people put vin's in their
ads. I really dislike the car buying process...
This is an awesome KJ forum. THANKS! JB

I want to believe, it's just mine. but given the fact that sticks are more rare than virgin males on an engineering campus, I've yet to test my theory.

I will say that, the cruise control on the 07 is epic and flawless though.

02-05 because I don't like the drive-by-wire and esp and electronics etc on the later models. Just my opinion.

Same.

My 05 leather seats are much different than my 02's. I haven't had the 05 for long but the seat comfort is fine to me and I spend about 3 hours in it a day.

I wanted one, until I saw what a maintenance ***** it is. It's almost like it has italian blood in it, like a ferrari engine. It'll sound glorious and run like a demon, right until it catches fire randomly and burns the whole car down. the ferrari, not the CRD. same thing though.

Love my early 02. Very simple and basic. No TPS and no antilock brakes. Not that I'm apposed to antilock, just didn't come on my Liberty.

I would say by a 2005 or 2006 because you have drive by cable and also a upgraded engine to deliver more torque and a higher compression ratio as well, also a different cam profile that they claim improves idle quality. I love my 2004 to death, but when I am towing going up hill is not fun and I could use the added torque.

My tC is like this. I feel like at one point I'm pressing way too ******* the peddle and it's not revving. And other times I just barely apply any pressure and the revs fly. Doesn't make for easy smooth starts. I feel like I'm constantly adjusting.
