2 Jeep problems in one week?! Waaaaaaah!?!??!
The main scare was when I was with my mom at the local drug mart and when we got back in the car and I went to start it, something peculiar happened. When I turned the key, it did all the clicks and sounds and lights flashing around, but it didn't turn over. I thought it was the battery terminals again (See story below) but I thought it was impossible because it was just replaced. So when I turned the key back and tried again, it suddenly became smooth inside the hole. No clicking, and the dash was stuck in accessory position. Called up my grandpa (dad was in the U.S for work) and asked to bring like a screwdriver or something (I dunno, maybe open it up and knock it into place) We ended up calling the CAA and using his card and got it towed home. Waiting on the new part from Amazon now.
In other breakdown news. Before the key incident, I went to start it and all the clicks happened, lights lit up and everything, but the final turn of the key did nothing but make a loud click under the hood and made the dash lights go dim. Looked under there, and looked at the battery and did some looking around and found the positive battery terminal was completely corroded and giving no good connection. Asked my grandpa if he had any on hand (gave me like an expensive one he had laying around)and after that it started fine. (Negative connection also should be changed soon)
(another quick breakdown-ish story before all of this) We were up north at our friends cottage, rained all weekend, damp, cold, first thought that came into my mind was "Oh God...My Jeep doesn't like the rain..." Sure enough, I was going to the gas station with my dad, rolled the drivers side window down, then back up, and 'snap'! Something in the door broke...
window starts sliding down slowly and the buttons doing nothing, so, naturally, I have to drive with one hand on the window and the other on the wheel. Got back to the house, my dad and his engineering friends looked at it and couldn't figure out how the hell it worked (it was also hard to see because all the metal part of the door in the way) ended putting a small block of wood under the window to hold it up until we have the time to fix it. (yes, it is still broken, we have a part from...Hong Kong......should last.....)
How can I end this pain and future proof my jeep!??!?!
