Finished installing the rebuilt transmission today after 10 weeks of driving the wifes KK it damn goid to be back in the KJ so much nicer to drive

What was the painful part? Just curious, as the chances are most of us who continue to drive these into high mileage will have something like this come up.

R/R the transmission shouldnt be too tough unless you don't have any tools or a place to work on it.

Just wondering what the "gotchas" are.

Haha the painfull part was driving the KK for 10 weeks. Seriously though if you dont have a hoist you need a good set of ramps mine give you about 6 inches and that is not really enough you will also need to lift the back so you can get the box out. I converted a floor jack to lift thr transmission up and down the transfer case is a little harder as it goes in tilted. The transfer case was painted with Dupicolor hi heat with ceramic

Also the clamp on the exhaust ( the one up high )is a ***** not alot of room to work you get about an 8th of a turn with a spanner each go and no room for a ratchet unless real small with a deep reach socket
