i found a nice cheap liberty to trade my XJ for, but it has a couple issues, nothing big but stuff i need to work out.
One of the issues is the turn signal won't engage when put to the left. It will not stay in place and the light on the dash does not light up although to the right it works fine..
Its an 06 without fog lights on the multifunction switch.
Thanks!

Sounds like you need a multifunction switch. Pretty easy repair from what I've heard. I have one lying around here I'd sell you if you end up buying the Liberty. Good luck!

Thats what i was thinking, but was hoping maybe i could get away with just a cancelling spring something simple, Tuesday we are meeting back up with the title and will look more into it, but wanted to see if maybe someone else had the same problem.
What are you looking to get for yours?
Thanks!

It's most likely the multi function switch. Which is basicly the whole turn signal arm/stick. I had the same thing happen to me. The stick wouldn't lock into the place for left turn signal. I still had a left blinker though when i held it in place. I couldn't tell you the cost b/c my repair was covered under warranty.

I notice you said it's a 2006. Find out the original purchase date of the Jeep. It still may be under factory warranty if it was purchased in the later half of 2006.

Its probably just a bad multifunction switch or even the flasher unit, so don't let it deter you from buying the Jeep. It will just give you the satisfaction of fixing something yourself, and perhaps a bargaining chip to get them to come down in price a smidge!!

So should i just go ahead and order a new multifunction switch?
I found out it will now go into and lock into the left but the light still does not appear on the dash at all?

I'll sell you mine for $30 + shipping. I think they go for around $50+ new. By the way, mine is for a Liberty without foglamps. If your Jeep has foglamps you'll need the other one...seen here on eBay:

Yeah i would probably plan on a multi-function switch. They seem to be the biggest fault for lighting problems.

And if you think KJ owners got the shaft on it we aren't the only ones, my wife's PT Cruiser suffers from the same MFS problems. Seems they didn't do a very good job designing them or something.

Your lucky, you've got a UNIQUE KJ, somekind of a mutant bidirectional KJ ! loll :p
Mine also bugged me today as i was turning left both blinkers where signaling as if i had pushed the hazards blinkers on ... wth !! so i pushed the hazard one for real and somehow pulled on the signal arm and that seemed to fix it ... its the second time i fix a wierd thing about signals by pulling and pushing towards the steering shaft on the signal arm ... Guess my luck will soon run out too and ill need a multi fonction signal arm ...

Hello everyone

Need help. I have a 05 jeep liberty and I'm having trouble with the front left turn signal. The light on the dashboard flashes rapidly like if the bulb was blown. I checked the bulb and it's good, I even put it on the right side to double check. I read online that it might be the hazard light switch so I replaced it but still not working. I have checked (visual)the fuses and they look OK. So I don't know what to do next.

Thanks

You have a bad bulb or socket in that circuit somewhere. Check all the lights on that side.

Sent from my mystical handheld gizmo.
