So, it looks like Jeep/Chrysler in US is processing these already, Chrysler Canada still has not even sent out the letters, and the dealers are not doing these yet.

This is the recent recall, N46, where they add / modify a trailer hitch to provide low speed crash protection.

In checking the Mopar site which chrylsercanada linked to, my 2004 Jeep Liberty has this N46 recall outstanding.

Use your VIN at this site

https://www.moparownerconnect.com/oc/us/en-us/sub/Pages/RecallsQuery.aspx

I went to my local dealer, they wanted to schedule an appointment to inspect the vehicle but wouldn't add the trailer hitch. I left frustrated.

I called Chrysler US by mistake (800 853 1403) and they had a great pre-recorded message explaining the recall. I waited to talk to a representative as I wanted to know if my vehicle did not have a hitch, if they would add it. After verifying me as the owner, he said yes. When he asked for my ZIP code I realized I had called US number

He then referred me to the Canadian customer support centre at 800 465 2001. After verifying me as owner, and checking my VIN, I had a great discussion with the representative there. It seems Chrysler Canada has not yet sent the letters out to owners and is not ready to start yet - soon he said.

So I asked him about adding a hitch to a hitch-less Jeep - he said yes. So back to the dealer once they issue the letters and the dealer clues in to what's happening.

BTW, the American representative had offered to call my local dealer - that's when we found out I had called the US instead of the Canadian one.

So - anyone else tried to have this recall processed in Canada ?

How did it work out ?

Thanks for the link, It shows I have the M35 which I still need to take time for and the N46, Pretty funny that Chrysler Canada told me this is not a recall that effects my Liberty which made no sense to me, Ill be contacting someone about this right away!

I got the recall letter too, but there's no mention of what class of hitch they'll be installing. Anybody have any info on that yet? My old Class III Reese has seen better days so I'll gladly replace it, but not with a Class II. My dealer hasn't done any yet and couldn't give me an answer.

That's a good question, My wife booked the Jeep in and I will try finding out this info, I would assume they would supply a hitch that's rated for the vehicles towing capacity, If only a II you should unbolt your Class III, Get the II, Swap them out and sell the II haha.

Yes I just had the recall done here in Canada and to my awful surprise all I got was a "Trailer Hitch" frame. No wiring and no ball hitch. They forgot to mention to me that I would have to pay for this. Great marketing scam Chrysler, let us pay for your recalls. I'm Pissed!

Just to help ramp down your blood pressure a bit, you don't normally get a ball and receiver when you buy a hitch. If the recall had anything to do with towing maybe the wiring should be included but...

Breath ;)

What "Class" of hitch did they install?

Thx Luke. However there is no consideration for customer satisfaction?

The recall is for a frame that protects the gas tank. This has been accomplished while giving you more than they were required.

Add the ball mount, ball and wiring yourself and stop complaining about something you were given for free.

The reason they are installing the trailer hitch is to protect the fuel tank in the event of a rear end collision, Not so you can tow something lol, A wiring kit and tongue and ball will run you maybe $50, Canadian Tire is having a sale starting today or tomorrow with "Hitch Accessories" 25% Off, Plus I would rather get these extra's myself as I know what wiring/tongue setup I want.

Somewhere between being sane and insane!

For what? Your KJ passed all required crash tests when it was produced. You got a damn free hitch due to idiots thinking it must pass crash standards introduced after the vehicle was produced and even stopped production.

Grow a set and stop complaining. You never get the wiring or receiver, all that must be bought separate and this has nothing to do with actually being able to tow anything anyways.

What, you mean we don't even get a free trailer from Chrysler to go along with the hitch?
Nor a boat put on said trailer? What a rip!! ;)

So I took my Renegade into the dealer yesterday to have the M35 & N46 recall completed and was nicely advised that they are back ordered for the hitches and it could be 2 weeks or 2 months ect. until it will be in stock, They could not explain to me why the service guy told me they were in stock and would be completed yesterday, They completed the M35 ORC recall and will call me when they have the hitch in stock, Ill update when they have this completed.

After expressing my displeasure about being told parts were in stock and now the current wait is 1 month, I had a prompt call yesterday advising me that my hitch was in stock and I was booked in for the 22nd of this month.

Dropped the Jeep off at the stealership this morning, Service girl told me I will have to wait for parts to come in for the recall, I told her I already had a call saying they were in stock for me and they booked me in for today, All she said was "Well in that case"... Do they not update their systems with anything or put notes on file?

That sounds more like that's just her default line to give to liberty owners. Probably didn't even look at the service order haha

She didn't seem to know much anyways but that was expected, The other service girl drove my Renegade through the service bay and rode the clutch, With a loud exhaust in a big service bay everyone knew what she did LOL
