K I just don't wana drop a lot of cash. Cua it needs body work and a new radiotor so my only fear was dropping a grand or more into a jeep that might just blow up one day haha

In that case don't lift it,fix the KJ so it's in good mechanical shape 1st then you can worry about modding it for offroad.

Kinda stupid to lift it when it needs other issues to run correctly fixed 1st.

Not going to be a trail vehicle and needs mechanical and body work done? Why bother lifting it?

Justcus I'm not climbing boulders on the daily don't mean I shouldn't lift it. I don't see why people lift nice keeps AMD.wheel them I'd rather have something a little neat up that I can screw around with

I think he's more of saying that a lift is for fucntional purpose and if you don't plan to use it for it's function why spend the money on it. Sort of like spend the extra money on M/T tires on the vehicle if you will never wheel it to even need M/T's..

But some people just want the look even if they don't plan to use it. Sure it'll be a mall crawler, but there is nothing wrong with doing it for the looks and not the function too. 2 different groups with different reasons for their mods..

But yeah I would say if it has engine issues that makes you worried it would blow up I'd spend the money on that otherwise you just have a lifted Jeep lawn toy.

Maybe I'll just sell it and get a Cherokee
If your talking about a XJ I'd pass, will have a ton more miles(more likely to break down) and older so more rust.

A stock KJ will do plenty, take care of the mechanical issues 1st before doing stuff like lifting. No use lifting a broken vehicle.I mean I like my vehicles to look good to but I always make sure it mechanically sound before worrying about how it looks.

Itnruns fine just rust spots. It does try to bog out almost and stall when its cold and I stop fast.im no ******** wheeler. Go ahead and tease me I'm a mall crawler. I'd love to hit trails but dont have time or money I got.this jeep as a project. I like different. Never liked wranglers ezcpet the new ones. My last jeep was a 95 zj wspacer lift and pro comp swampers. I'm in deep with the liberty. I'll take whatever help with it I can get but I simply.can't dropxa grand on a jba or ome kit. I'd love to but no money for it. So I don't wana install anything that will hurt it more but can't drop cash like crazy

Good luck with Rusty's my friend.

Rusty's isn't bad. I've heard good things from them on other platforms. It's my understanding that the issue on their Liberty kit is that the springs are rated for the same weight as the stock springs which are already under rated. So it's going to sag just like your stock springs have. Pretty much forget about adding any form of weight to the jeep.

There is a reason why when you don't see everyone this board running a $400 Rusty's kit or anything.. If they worked good almost everyone here would have them instead. I know myself personally I prefer to spend as wisely as possible and not throw money away. Had I been able to get a working good lift for $400 on my Liberty instead I'd have taken that option in a heartbeat.

There are 2 ways to build a Liberty. There is the right way and there is the "It's a KJ Thing" way... Trust me, you want to go the right way.

There was only one good thing that Rustys did, they "used " to use OME front shocks, .....................but their springs were crap, rear shocks fit like crap and were the cheapest ones they could find. Personally I installed one Rustys lift under protest and would never install another one.

Its yours build it the way you want to, who cares if you never go off road and just drive it back and forth to work and shopping/hiking/kite flying/ whatever. But I do agree with getting mechanicals done first then lift it with a good lift, don't cheap out, won't last, bad ride etc

Measur from the center of the wheel to the bottom of the fender flair for height.

If you just want to bring the front up a small but you can out a spacer no larger than .5" in each front clevis. Either measure and tighten with nothing but a gap or put in some conduit nuts. That will bring the front up a bit to even it out.
