Oh I better clarify this is not metal. It's fiberglass with metal mounts for the winch and bumper mount

Thats still really good work regardless of material. I havent worked with fiber glass much, just making shower pans for custom shower enclosures. How did you make a mold? build with wood first and then fiber glass over it?

Yes wood then fiberglass. The bumper is just a cover. The winch is mounted to the unibody with 1/4 steel. Not tested it yet. Hope to this weekend.

Thats cool. Kinda like the backbone winch mount only its hidden away inside the bumper. Once again good work!

Thanks. I am concerned the weathering is going to effect it. I've started on a mold to make a plastic cover. All in my garage a night so it's slow. I have a friend that has a plastic company that will hit it for me.

Sweet job, there used to be a company that made fiberglass bumpers for cherokees and grand cherokees called ice-land offroad. They made several versions that were 1/4 inch thick and were a pretty penny but very sturdy and lightweight. You could be on to something for these little libbys.

What did you coat it with? I dont think the elements will effect it to much

I used bondo brand resin with fiber fabric for strength. The cold and warm is what I'm mostly concerned with. I didn't put the fabric on the back side either. I got lazy after working on if for 80 hrs. It may be ok.

iceland offroad did make a good looking bumper but i would not buy one one i just dont like the idea of a fiberglass bumper on a jeep they are of on your ricers if you are into that kind of thing i will say that the iceland offroad bumpers were strong

also you dont need to do any cutting to install it with the iceland stuff on the WJ you had to cut a lot to install .

1) Weight of bumper without winch ( approximate will do )
2) As it's a one off, cost?
3) Where can we get one?
4) more photos please showing over hang at the front.
5) photos when you are testing it
