My daughter has a 2004 Liberty. Recently, she let me know that her steering was becoming more difficult and the vehicle was making a sound when she turned the wheel. I checked her steering fluid and noticed it was down, so picked up the recommended transmission fluid and topped the resevoir off. That was 6 months ago and she just let me know that the same thing is happening, which obviously shouldn't.
I asked her to check underneath the car where she parks, to see if there was a pool of liquid or stain, where the fluid may be leaking to, but she indicated she couldn't see anything.
I have a couple of questions I'm hoping someone can help me with. Is this a common issue with the Liberty, or even Jeeps in general? Also, if there's no evidence of a leak underneath the vehicle, does anyone have any idea where the fluid is disappearing to?
I'm certainly not familiar with car repairs and my daughter lives about 12 hours from us. I've suggested she refill the resevoir, which fixed the issue the last time, and to bring the vehicle into a repair shop to get checked out. So she doesn't get ripped off, I'm hoping to at least gain some insight into what the problem may be from the forum.
Any feedback is much appreciated. Happy holidays to all.
