I am still working out the finer points but this past weekend I was out shooting with some friends and I realized, like an idiot, I was the only one without a canopy overhead while shooting in the 112 degree desert. So, tonight I started to think more about it and thus far I am thinking...what if I mount a 1" rod on each side of the roof rack. At the rear end there is a bendable 45 degree fitting and a 3/4" pipe that fits inside the 1" You can pull it straight out then bend out like Jeep doors. On the rods you can mount a modified tarp/canopy. What do you think? I know it would not be huge by any means but it might be big enough to give some shelter from the intense Sierra Nevada Sun and some rain cover in the rare occasions it does in fact rain for more than 30 seconds.

Open to all ideas and suggestions, including **** that is dumb! LOL.

As crazy as this sounds...

I use an old home movie / slide show projection
screen that I bought from a second hand store for
$2.00!
8pm are a little to small, but some of the 16mm screens
or larger ones for bigger venues are the best!
Not only does it roll up in it's own case, but it also
has the super reflective coating on one side (For
projection purposes) that help 100% in reflecting
all the suns rays off of your body.
Not to mention that they also work well for keeping
you and your gear dry when raining!
It also has it's own stay built in so you don't need
and tarp poles or guy lines too keep it set up!
It's up to you how to mount it though!

I was thinking to use something like a older tripod modified...or at least that would give you a basic idea of the rods. Perhaps this weekend I will take a look and see what I can whip up. Either that or install my hood vents, lol. Still debating what paint to use on them....the dark garnet, to match or line x/bed liner. Hmmmmm
