For starters, I'm a licensed concealed carry permit holder, and I do not condone any illegal possession or transportation of firearms. With that being said, I cannot find anywhere to store my 4" Kimber. It's very compact and narrow, but it won't fit in the glovebox, or the slot above the glovebox, or in the armrest, even if it did, I've never seen a vehicle without a locking glovebox until I purchased the Jeep Liberty.

Am I going to have to do some fancy customizing or drill through the floor boards? Anyone else having an issue, or am I not being creative enough? Or am I being too cautious and I should just throw it under the seat? I have three kids and I'd like to keep it secured. Anyone else find something that works? I'm not talking about an empty mcdonalds bag or box of tampons, I'm looking for something more Jeep related.

Get a Kahr PM40, that will easily fit in the slot above the glove-box.

Failing that under the seat with a trigger lock is an option.

I would never leave any firearm in any vehicle. If you are going to CC then wear it.

Just my opinion.

educate the kids on the subject. don't treat them like they're too young to know about it, thats when they get curious and go exploring. when you explain to the children that its to protect you from the bad guys they wont be as curious. my dad is a concealed carry instructor here in arkansas and i've been raised around guns.

on another note I too have see the left side mount on the driver seat. thats what I would do, or just slide it under the seat in a gun rug

Unfortunately there are places where guns are not allowed regardless of any permits. Its unavoidable that there needs to be a safe place to secure it for these occasions. When im actually in the car it will be in the holster.

If I owed a Pistol or Revolver,I would mount a lock box somewhere to store it.

If the OP is going to leave $300+ gun in car, does not want kids playing cowboy and indian with it and expects it to be there when he returns a lock box seems appropriate.

well true. but at the same time, if he's carrying for protection he needs easy access to the firearm in order to be able to to quickly react in an unfortunate situation. therefore if he were having to fumble around a key or mess with a combination lock or whatever to unlock the box to retrieve the gun it wouldn't be very easy access. I would educate the kids and let them know the guns not a toy but also not a monster hiding under the seat. There should be a happy medium in the opinion of the gun. Not too scared to be around the thing, but not too confident to know the serious precautions.

Read the above,it says that he can not carry all places he goes, otherwise the pistol is on his person.

When I get my CC permit, I'ma just gonna have to pack illegally in these places, such as 'establishments serving alcoholic beverages'. It's a law that's designed (in my opinion) to make carrying logistically impossible.

Walking on the street, carrying. Someone says "hey, let's stop in and get a bite". Now what... you have to turn around, go home, drop the firearm off, and then go back?

Pff, they call it concealed carry for a reason.

I use a gunsafe under the front seat easy to put in it when getting out to go in to bank and easy to get it out when getting back in. I have to carry it on the way to the bank but can not take it in to the bank.
Just an idea that works for me
