As many of you know I am thinking about getting a locker put on my rear differencial. My 06 has a traction control limited slip feature that can't be turned off. Some sites say that this helps increase your off-road capabilities.

Here are my questions:

My first question is: Is the traction control system good enough as a locker itself or should I get a real locker?

My second question is: If I get a locker will this lovely traction control system damper some of my would be lockers capabilities?

Weel, you got roof bar covered,so not sure about TCS.If you flog it from a dead stop do you get two(2) black marks in rear? If so,a locker won't help much more than the economy,if not, then yes,a locker might be of service.

I am not sure about a 2wd
I dont know if it looks at front wheel speed compared to rear wheel speed
and break on that as well as left to right on an axle

if it only looks at left to right difference then it will never know you have a locker it will think you have good traction and you are going strait
both wheels will be turning at the same speed
how ever if the rear wheels start to turn faster than the front and it does not like that
then a locker is point less

Traction control will never compete with a locker. TC is the devil on anything other than hard surfaces. It will get you in trouble in snow and mud or anything else loose for the matter.

x2 when actually playing in the snow TC is horrible! its great for actual driving, keeps the jeep nice and straight, but when playing it seems instead of transfering power from wheel to wheel it just shut down power altogether. You can hit the gas as hard as you want and it won't revv until it gets traction...
