So, I was hoping I could get some feedback from some of you that have installed EVICs. I apologize for starting yet ANOTHER thread on this, but I'm scratching my head. I have successfully installed an EVIC in my 2004 liberty - it has worked well (without any problems) for about 8 months. About 5 months ago I was asked to install an EVIC in someone else's jeep (a 2002 model). The EVIC I installed worked well, but about 2 months later she started having some electrical issues with the jeep. A mechanic convinced her it was a bad battery, then a bad alternator (both of which she replaced). I suggested she let them know the EVIC was an "aftermarket" install, but to be aware the odds were good they were going to decide this was the problem without looking further. Which is (of course) what happened. They informed her that the EVIC was turning on several minutes after the jeep was turned off and draining the battery (I was able to verify none of this in person). They "fixed" the EVIC for her (I have no idea what the charge was) and insisted the EVIC was "wired all wrong".
I followed the instructions on this site for both installs. There are only 4 wires. Three are wired into the BCM (ground, fused B+, PCI) and one I wired into her radio ignition on. Her EVIC was functioning correctly (temp, mileage, etc) for several months. Actually, I'm not sure she ever had a problem with EVIC operation, she was just told it was causing her other problems. I would think if it was wired incorrectly it wouldn't work at all, or would cause a problem with the battery immediately (this was actually the opinion of mechanic as well). Am I crazy? If so, what did I screw up?
