Hi guys,
Just back from the dealer. I have an 06 lib. with 38K miles on it. Over the last few days I noticed a rumbling like going over rumble stripes on the road when the ****** was under load. So I take it in and at the end of the day they tell me it needs a torque converter. I also have the back flow gas problem when filling. They tell me that the little flapper that should be up by the top of the fill neck has dropped down the neck so I need a new tank. Well seeing that I'm 2k out of warranty the dealer calls Chrysler and the deal is I pay a 200.00 deductible and for 1 hour diagnoses and Chrysler picks up the rest. So it gets fixed and I'm out 318.00. That seems ok, or not? any thoughts? The dealer told me that parts alone are over 800.00.
Thanks.

Well, seeing as you were out of warranty.....I would be happy with that, since they had to disconnect the ****** maybe even drop it all together. So, I would be happy with the nearly 4 bills, they could have charged you labour on top of your deductible.:D

Wow that was very nice of Chrysler. I'm surprised though that your warranty ended so early...

Yeah, it should have 7 years on the power train? Converter is considered part of the power train.

Yeah the TQ would be part of the powertrain warrenty and covered on the 3/36. (or under the 7/70) But I think they did away with the 7/70 after the 05 MY. Not positive.

Sounds like they are giving you a break though.

I think they did do away with the 7/70. I wanted to pay for the warranty transfer when I bought it but I was told the 3/36 was all I could get. I do think the deal is a good one I guess I have a hard time with the torque converter needing replaced after 38K.

It sounds like you bought it used and normally the TC should last much much longer but you don't know how the prior owner treated it, right?

I bought a used 06, with the balance of an 8/80 warranty...

Are seals in the power-train covered? Like diff seals, axle seals, all that? I still think I got a slow leak from the front passenger side axle... I filled the front diff up, and to my surprise it STOPPED, but is just a drop here and there now...

That is a great deal for replacement of the torque converter and a new fuel tank. I am guessing that parts and labor would run approx. $1300-$1400 if Chrysler hadn't picked up a majority of the bill.

Wow... I'm liking this new Chrysler from what I'm hearing. Picking up repair bills, greenlighting vehicles, keeping the Viper and PT Cruiser in production, redesigning the 300 (again), bringing little fun machines over so I can have even more fun at work...

Anywho, no 7/70 on '06s. I should know, I had one.

... and what flapper?

Yeah, take that and run.

Ohh, that back flow thing youre talking about is talked about some. Mine has over flowed 2-3 times but its not done it in along time. Seems some gas stations do it and some dont???

But you're not out of warranty. You're 2k out of the bumper to bumper, but still well within the full drivetrain warranty. I guess the gas tank isn't a drive train issue... so I guess I could see you paying for the gas tank issue, but the 1 hour diagnostic was probably related to the drive train? I guess I'd want some further explanations from them.
