They are idiots over there. They follow the crowds and do what they are told. They make up for their personal insecurities with their vehicle. I have a lot of other opinions, but they are probably handled better through PM or something lol.

They don't know jack! We traded a WJ for the KJ & I don't regret it in the least. The KJ drives better, rides better, mine has the 45RFE which is way better than the hunk of metallic crap they bolted to the 4.0 in the WJ. The KJ has no "death wobble" issue & the KJ build quality is vastly superior. All that said, I'd love to trade my KJ for a 1996 XJ, but I don't want to deal with another 10+ year old car!

XJ's are good and in that they bolted the AW4 ****** to the 4.0.......that's a good ******. At least in my opinion. I'm not sure what they used on the WJ.

I thought it might've been. Oh well, it irritated me enough to post it again I guess. I just don't understand what's so "girly" or "gay" about the KJ. Now, I've voiced my opinion on the Patriot and especially the Compass....but to me those are COMPLETELY different vehicles, front wheel drive, 4 cyl., CVT trans., not to mention CAR based. The KJ is none of those, it's RWD (like a WJ), V6 (also like the WJ), decent trans., plenty capable off-road, etc., etc......I just don't get where they're coming from.

I'm not meaning to offend anyone on here, but, quite honestly, I think the Jeep crowd is the biggest group of snobs anywhere in the automotive world. Think about it. I can't think of any other enthusiast club where owners of the same make bash owners of that same brand due to the model. Corvette owners, BMW enthusiasts, Mini, etc. all have a sense of respect with anyone who owns the same brand, regardless of the mechanics or year it was made. However, Jeep creates wars of KJ vs TJ vs YJ vs XJ vs JK vs CJ vs WJ vs whatever else was made.

Never thought of it this way before, but it's true.

Even the Patriot and Compass which are different shouldn't be bashed. Some Jeep people just don't understand. They were made to increase the CAFE figures while maintaining some off-road capabilities.

Everyone has likes and dislikes and that's ok. It's one thing not to like them but bashing them because they do not compare to a Wrangler is ignorant. Kinda like bashing an orange because it doesn't taste like an apple.

Different Jeeps - different purposes (and capabilities).

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
haha, I spiced it up some.. Enjoy fellers..
Hey jeepjeepster you can post this pic on that forum. It shows a KJ(USAFCOP's) pulling a built rock buggy that hit a small rock about a size of a basketball and broke the steering gear, input on his dana60 front axle, output housing on the ******,and broke his front left rim.Me and Rock Lizard had to go the the trail head and get his spare(so we ran the trail twice with no problems).Pulled him about 1 1/2 mile back down the trail until it got to dark, really slow going since 2 poeple had to man handle the front tires to steer it.This all on a trail that poeple told us not to take a KJ on,all KJ's made it safely up and down without breaking anything.

I just don't understand what's so "girly" or "gay" about the KJ. :

I've been around since the beginning... hell I've been looking at JU since '02. The biggest problem isn't necessarily the IFS... it's the styling. Let's face it, the KJ is "cute". It's that aspect which attracts it to so many women, even though it was marketed towards men. There's no way around it. Second is the IFS or the fact that it replaced the XJ. I don't care that it replaced the XJ, the XJ was 18 years old and in the opinion of many JUers, it was still a good vehicle. No. Noise, Vibration and Harshness of the XJ was horrible. Loud, unrefined engine, no sound insulation, a chassis that felt like bubble gum and a rough ride. The KJ solved each and every one of these issues... and looks to be more reliable and tough. Jury is still out on how long it lasts, but I've seen and heard of many Libbys with 200K+ miles. (The one I personally saw and DROVE had 250k)

The XJ was developed during bad times at AMC... mostly by Renault engineers.

I used to be one of those KJ bashers myself when I first found JU and the other Jeep sites. I was an immature idiot who just got a license... and hadn't even driven anything but an XJ, and at the time I thought it was the coolest thing in the world. Then we got one as a rental and it completely changed my mind.

The people who call themselves Jeep "purists" just always hate the new model, no matter what it's technical specs. This phenomenon has been gone over time and time again...the CJ guys hated the YJ until it proved itself, the YJ guys hated the TJ until it proved itself, EVERYBODY hated the XJ when it first came out (now look, it's a legend!), the ZJ never got any respect from the Wrangler guys until recently, the WJ got no respect from ZJ owners until recently, the KJ gets no respect from the WJ guys...and don't even get me started on the FSJ's! It goes on and on...

Every Jeep owner thinks that the newest thing from Jeep is "ruining the brand" and on top of that the Wrangler guys think anything that isn't CJ-based isn't a real Jeep. Until that new model gets some aftermarket support, sees some project articles in some big name periodical and proves itself on the trail, it will always be made fun of.

The good thing is, from what I can see us KJ owners are making a pretty good name for ourselves. Overlook the marginal front suspension (which can be ever so slightly improved) and our rigs are just as stout as any XJ and built better.

I wouldn't be surprised one bit if in five years the Jeep community is priasing the CVT transmission as the best thing since air lockers. That's just how these things go.

These folks are onroad drivers, not offroad.

Baha.

Well anyways I don't know why many people get heated over this. Really, what is the reason? Is it because those people bashing KJ's are Jeepers and they should respect the entire class? I just think the best thing to do is ignore them. You can't make a dollar out of 15 cents.

It really IS nothing, so I wouldn't even worry about it. Just somebody's opinion. I have my opinion of the WJ as well.

OK, so I've always liked the WJ.

At least we have WAY better resale value. :) The Grand Cherokee depreciates like 40% the minute you sign those papers... it always has.
