A year ago when i was in a jeep liberty for a short time, i never had a problem with the seats and neither did my mom when she was driving. But i hear from a lot of owners in reviews and other forums that everyone has a huge issue with the seats in the liberties. They said the leather ones are nice but the cloth ones are horrible and give you back pains. Is this really true or are they just whining? Im not expecting a luxury car but i dont want to be sitting on wood while driving down the road either since i will be making daily drives to work that are 35 min +. I dont think its going to much of an issue for me since my beretta seats are totally worn and i still like them but i want to be sure, 12-15,000 dollars is quite a bit for an 18 year told be investing into a vehicle so im going to be careful with this purchase.

A good thing but also a bad thing is that there isnt many used liberties for sale around here but many on the road so most people must be satisfied with them. Of course its bad for me because i dont got much selection when im buying used either lol.

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
My '02 limited seats are pretty comfiy,no caddy but comfiy enough.I have really bad lower back problems to and my seats don't bother me,even on 1500 mile(stopping for gas only) trips. Now I've ridin in some KJ sports and there seats are something not to be disired, alot harder and less supportive than limited seats.Corbeau makes plenty of really comfiy seats(race one's to) that fit in the KJ and the direct bolt in mounts to,I plan om getting them someday,it's about #8 on my todo list.

My leather seats along with my Wet okole seat covers makes for a really nice seat. The covers add around a 1/2in of foam.. I like..

I have the leather power seats and they are comfortable. They seem a little stiffer than the cloth ones as I've sat in both. The longest trip I took was to Maryland and back - about 1,000 miles all together - mostly highway. I have a bad hip and it stiffens up on me sometimes, but I don't think it's the seat, but rather my hip. I need to stop and stretch my legs, and get gas and coffee and I'm ok. If you find one with power seats, the adjustments can be more exact to your size than you can get with the manual seats and that will help.

The best thing you can do I guess is to drive them and see how they feel to you. Not just around the block, take a good test drive, and while you're at it find some dirt and make sure the 4wd works well (along with everything elce).

I have an 05 with the cloth seats and they're perfectly fine for trips less than 2-3 hours long after that they will start to bug you a little bit...... but thats coming from a 19 year old, so maybe older people will have a little more trouble..... i'm not very picky so i just adjust them to make them feel better...+ it's a jeep so u can't expect them to be tooo luxurious!

Comfort is a matter of opinion. I don't think any of us can honestly tell you whether or not it will fit you ergonomically. Your best bet is to find one somewhere with cloth seats and just sit in it and decide.

One of the things that I liked most about my Jeep was the seats.
With my 6'5", 200 lb. frame, I have no problems getting it adjusted to suite me perfectly. I have a lower back problem (stemming from work ;) ) and I have no problems driving several hours at a time with no discomfort. Note that I doubt I could drive more than that in ANY vehicle without stopping to give the back a rest.

Mine are cloth and are very comfortable. Unless you plan on doing some frequent marathon driving, the seats will be the least of your worries.

in least of your worries your not hinting something else to go wrong right? lol. Sorry, only reason i ask about seats is because i too have a back program from a work related injury so it concerned me a bit when i heard so many complaints. And its been awhile since i sat in a liberty.

As long as you check into it before you get it (ie: make sure recalls have been performed, get a carfax, etc) there really shouldn't be too much to worry about. Doesn't sound like heavy modifications are in your budget so you won't need to worry about too many mechanical issues, really.

I have had multiple back injuries. Cloth power (driver only) seats in mine and I don't have any problem with mine. I even spent five days driving, up to 6 hours a day, around Wyoming with my kids for vacation last year and no problems at all.

I have the cloth/leather combination seats so my opinion only half counts. I used to drive 45+ minutes to/from work and had no issues. At one time I added a back massager to my drivers seat but that was only for the idea of it, not because the seats had anything to do with it.

Good luck with finding the Jeep you want. We will all be here to see your pics!! :)

No problem with my '05 cloth seats, they are firm. I've been a dirt bike racer for years so maybe my monkey butt resistant posterior isn't the best gauge. My wife at 5 ft 2 in\125 lbs has never mentioned the seats as being uncomfortable though.

Driving for 4 or more hours brings out the worst in the seats. Maybe it has something to do with leg lengths? I'm 6'1", and sure wish the seat bottoms were longer, that would fix the problem from my perspective.

Seat comfort is very subjective. I have the cloth, & I think they are very comfortable. But I think Cadillac seats & Lay-Z-Boys are too cushy & lack support, which causes me discomfort. Over those, I prefer Ricaro seats like those found in VW GTI's, and BMW's M-Tech cars, & if I had $2000 burning a hole in my pocket, I'd get an Ekornes Stressless chair for my living room. They are the Bee's Knees baby! I love support!

We have cloth seats, granted they aren't as comfy as my Ram seats (also cloth) but they do well, even on road trips. My only complaints is that they aren't power (which I'll probably change eventually) and the bottom part doesn't stick out far enough, only to like mid thigh or so. My Ram seats go damn near to the back of my knees, its like driving on a couch.
