My 2007 Cherokee KJ's passenger front seat belt buckle does not stay clicked in if not under tension. It will click into place, but if you just sit there for a few seconds with it on your lap as usual it will just pop back out, but if pulled tight it will stay in place inside the buckle. The seat belt buckle is cracked down the middle of the red bit, so I am imagining it just needs the buckle replaced, as the belt itself is in good condition still.

Stuck for parts in Western Australia as Jeeps are not popular enough to be abundant at scrap yards, and trying to avoid spending a lot of $$ on sending over a part from the states. Are any aftermarket brands you find online safe enough to use or compatible?

Sorry I didn't know about after market stuff, you might find the spring in the latch has broken.

This worked in my 2006 none electric seat. You will need to cut off connector and put on the connector from the jeep seat. It's a 2 wire switch. Doesn't mater which wire goes where. Use butt splices.

The bracket is 1" shorter. So instead of the seat receptacle being above the seat bottom it is level with the top of the seat bottom. You do not have drill out the seat belt bolt hole. As some reviewers said. Just take a round file and knock off the paint. Bolt will be a snug fit. Which is good.

I had the same problem on my 2002 and bought that same part off ebay. I vaguely remember having to either drill out the mounting hole on the new buckles or getting a new bolt without a shoulder (get Grade 8 if you do that). Also, I couldn't get the sensor part to work even after I spliced in the old connector. I think I ended up taking the guts out of the old buckle and left it under the seat with the switch closed / shorted out so the seat belt light / chime never comes on. I don't think the original buckle switch was a simple open / closed circuit on mine but it was long enough ago that I'm forgetting the details.

I will try this again. This platform is absolutly awful.

This worked for me. It is still working.

You said yours is a 2002
My liberty is a 2006. There were a lot of changes to the 2006-2007 models

I stated my seat was non-electric. I also stated that it may be different for a electric seat.

If you use a bolt without a step it will not swivel as you move the seat.

You may have bought a different part number. There were about 50 different parts displayed. I included a picture and part number.

Platform awful? Why?

I was basically saying I agreed with your solution but that there may be some variations. I really don't understand why you're so upset?

My seats are leather, powered and with seat heaters.

The picture you provided looks exactly like what I bought off ebay

I just had the same issue hoping it was my problem with the dummy lites for the airbags. Contact spray where the buckle clicks in and silicone spray around the outside of the red female seat belt receiver then rapid fire the procedure and repeat silicone if needed until rectified.
