Hey guys - I bought my KJ used and the spare tire is secured by a lug nut style wheel lock. Of course, the Jeep didn't come with the "key". Any idea how I can get this thing off?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Go to a tool store and get a bolt remover.

Get a socket that almost fits in the hole that the key would fit in. Take a hammer, and beat it on the lug. Take it off and be happy.
Make sure its a socket you wont need again.![]()
When I got my KJ the wheel lock key came in a bag with a card from McGard with the serial # for the key if it ever should be lost.I suppose that little card isn't in the owners manual would it? If so just mail $10 to McGard with the serial # and they will send a new key to you.Hey guys - I bought my KJ used and the spare tire is secured by a lug nut style wheel lock. Sears sells wheel lock removers(a set of 3) for $20,good for 3/4",13/16",and 7/8" wheel lugs/locks.
I've had similar setup for years, also bought a master slim jim kit, though the book I have only show's how to use the kit on all vehicles(and I mean all, including exotics like Ferrari and Lamborghini) up to '03.It's also very easy to by-pass OEM alarms and sentry alarms with a scanner and a multimeter(thanks Astro-start and GM).That's kinda stupid....buy a lock, and any kid can walk to Sears and take it off anyway for $20. Not saying I don't believe you because I do, it's just contradictory.
Naw I worked at a dealership bodyshop and was required to have these things and get this training when running the wrecker on weekends for 6 months.Aha, so now we know how you can own a tricked out kj.....(biggrin)
