I do not think that they are trxus M/T's. I am thinking they are the regular TSL's. The Trxus has a bunch of siping. I am interested in the size, though.

Now that you mention it, those are not the TrXus M/Ts.

But they don't look like the Super Swamper TSLs either.

No, they do not last on the highway. The Trxus series is somewhat better. But they are unmatched in off-road durability and performance. The mall-crawler who buys these for the look is paying a hefty price in ride/mileage/wet road grip for a look while wasting the real use of the tire.

Yeah, that's where you always see these...on the "farm boys" trucks, but they also drive them to school, in to town, etc....and then the tires are shot pretty quick.

Of course, I've also heard that BFG's wear pretty fast too, but I assume that's due to a slightly softer compound? I had a set on my Ranger, but ended up selling it shortly after so I never got a good idea of the wear.

And by fast, I mean < 40K miles.

Most Swampers are still bias ply, not radial. That is a whole new ballgame for those who did not grow up on them. They get flat spots when sitting for awhile or even a few hours when cold. They do not wear worth a crap and never really did. Aggressive mud tires all have smooth-topped lugs with huge voids that mean what little rubber is touching wet/icy pavement is essentially a slick.

You are correct, you can't have a soft compound that wears well. Michelin makes some long lasting tires: Not one of them is worth anything off of the road. Everything is a trade-off. In a perfect world, a spare set of tires/rims with your off-road dedicated tires ready to go would be great. Expense and storage kills it for most of us.

LTB,s ,which has larger outer lugs

I had the LTB's on my TJ
They are NOT road tires ,every thing you hear is true
they flat spot if you let them sit for a few days but NOT over night even when it is in the 20's out side
They wear very fast ,30K on a 4,000# TJ if you are lucky
They are better off road than any other tire
How ever if you want traction and are willing to drop $250 each ,or more, for say Goodyears or BFG's that may last 50K if you are lucky then Swampers are worth a look
when I bought my LTB's the 31 X 11.5's could be found for about $120 each
I had some cheep'o MT's that people get about 40K out of and they were $90 each
but with VERY thin side walls

So yeah you probably do see them on "farm boy trucks"
They are cheep and work well and can hold a 3/8" lag bolt with out going flat
so what if they only last 30K buy 2 sets of GREAT tires for the price of 1 set of good tires ,off road of corse
