Hi, found this hanging. I saw it was capped off and just wanted to know what it was. Thanks

That is correct. There should be a clip on the Jeep’s body that holds it up above the level of water crossings, etc. It must have come loose.

Looks like klc and lfhoward have this sorted.

If you follow the hose backwards, it should attach to the rear diff housing.

From the look of things i bet the clip is broken or non existant. Just keep in mind suspension travel when reattached

Leave some room for flexing up and down.

Suspension travel means Jeep can move up and down/side to side on suspension/control arms. Leve some slack in / along the breather hose.
It is the rear diff breather tube & I extended mine higher up along fuel filler neck.
