What is this part called? Air intake Reservoir?

Is it easy to remove, do you just loosen the circle clamp, unplug the crankcase ventilation hose and then just pull it out? I want to swap from the box to the pipe. I figured out the issue with the air temperature sensor. I'll just leave the old one where it's at, cut the 2 wires, extend the wires and solder them to a new sensor and plug it into the pipe. I think the wires are black and white, but on the sensor, they are black and red. So, I'm guessing white to red and black to black. Then attach a longer ventilation hose and run it to the air box. I'm going to have to drill a hole in the side of the air box, possibly install a gromet. I've never seen a KJ with the pipe instead of the box, so I have no idea how the hose fits to the box. Am I missing anything? Is there a how-to for this already? Why do I want to swap the box for the pipe, it just looks more aesthetic.

I apologize for not being more frequent on the site, I just haven't had much to say. I still have my 2003 that I keep dumping money into because I don't want to part with it. When I first got it, like 6 years ago I had big plans for it. But I owned a Trailblazer before it that I dumped a few thousand into, getting a lift and all that, just for it to break down in less than 2 years of owning it. So, I was cautious about modding the KJ and I didn't do pretty much anything to it. This is probably the first real mod I'm going to do.

By returning the crankcase breather to a high position like this box, it becomes easier for excess oil to return to the crankcase.
If the breather is returned to a low position, the excess oil will drip away rather than return to the crankcase.
In model years where this box was discontinued, oil will drip into the air cleaner box.
The crankcase breather, located in the head, mainly draws in air, so it needs to be connected to a location with clean air.

No, I already have the box, I am going to swap it out for the pipe. And instead of running the crankcase breather hose, I'm going to drill a hole in the side of the pipe and install a gromet, then plug the hose directly into the pipe.

Not entirely sure from the photo, but the main purpose of the appendix on most air intake tracts is to quiet the intake noise at full throttle. I think you may be a test pilot on this one.

The air box I have on mine has been discontinued on later models. If you look at yours, you will probably see a plastic pipe from the intake out to the air box. That's all I'm trying to do, remove the air box and install the pipe. I'm trying to go from the left image to the right image.
