then since i was liberated from my laptop for a few hours, took the dog to the water to test my theory on his swimming ability.

I really dig your dog.
A good water test: Walk across the stream/creek to the other side.Look at the dog and then continue walking further away.If he doesn't cross,then forget it.
Some dogs just won't cross,but all dogs can swim.You can just throw him in and you'll see.Even if he's never swam before.

he acts like a young shaq. outspoken. does his job. eats all of our food!!

it was a car tire. i would have reached in to wipe it off to see the brand but we do have snapping turtles in our area and ive seen small ones break sticks so im not taking the risk
