My KJ having some mysterious transmission problem and what should I do if I experience the followings:


Problem: engine light is ON after a while and then power is decreased and very hard to go uphill

1. I found the problem
2. Car dealer fixed it
3. Less than 2 days after picked up from dealer, the problem come back
4. sent to car dealer to fix
5. car dealer fix it and less than few days the problem come back
6. sent to car dealer again
7. car dealer fix it again and less then 1 week the problem come back
8. what should I do now? any suggestion?

did it feel like you were stuck in like first gear?
you are probably in limp mode. did it spit out any codes?

your experiences seem similar to the one I had (same thing, go to dealer, they claim to have fixed it, but, i ended going back and forth )

turned out to be the solenoid....
(they might say burned out transmission computer)

how to get the code? did your car dealer fix it finally and how long it last?

I have to look for the thread that shows how to pull the codes...
as far as how long it took.....well, for like a month, since it first happened, it was back and forth to the dealer every week. then one week, as i was leaving from the dealer, 2 blocks away, it went back to limp mode...they wouldnt take the car back cuz they were closing...suffice to say, went back..then took them a week to figure it out (they talked to chrysler)

i think if they knew what it was, wouldve taken shorter...

so, what problem was your vehicle? have they fixed it?

my car dealer told me that it could be the solenoid problem and will update me tomorrow.
