No snake jokes please.

Has anyboy had any experience with Viper Security/keyless entry systems? The vehicle I want to equip came with power locks, but back in the 80's, keyless entry hadn't really trickled down from the High-End yet. I can't get a remote starter because it's a stick, and apparently installers don't do RS on manuals.
What I'm looking for boils down to:
Remote lock/unlock
Starter disable
Remote windows would be nice
Remote hatch pop would be nice too, but might be too much work for me to spend the $$$$ on.

Any of you electronics guys have a reccomendation?

Good day,
The only thing I recall from Viper Security Systems was the annoying "This vehicle is protected by a Viper Security System...Please stand back!" Then followed by an even more irritating high volume "PLEEP PLEEP" and that was just by walking past boy racers car! (Three feet away)
At the time the whole "Tuning scene" was right into that "Boy racer" Garbage.

BTW, All aftermarket and factory installed car alarms will disable themselves when hooked up to a tow truck (between 15-20 degrees via a mercury switch) so if a car gets impounded, etc, the battery won't run down.
I does not happen immediatly, as we probably all have experianced seeing the a the high end Mercedes being towed for improper parking and the tow truck operator driving away and the Merc's alarm just screeming
But non the less it does shut up.

Is it really worth it to get a car alarm? Theives can disable them (or so I hear) and most of the time they just go off when they're not supposed to and piss people (like me) off.

Do a search for "Somebody broke into my Jeep"

Yes, an alarm is very worthy.

Careful when wiring your alarm it may affect the windscreen vipers...

That...I wasn't expecting. LMFAO.

Anyway.

yes. When it's going to be protecting a classic, anything helps. Besides, the security system isn't the primary reason for getting one, I really want remote locks  . And remote windows would be nice too, and I figured that if I was going to be doing all that, might as well start it out with a security system that can do all that for me, in addition to protecting my car.

Didn't know that. Hmmm...makes sense really. One of the things that I liked so much about my Saab was that part of the security system was that the E-Brake locked up all 4 wheels instead of only 2, making it more difficult than nessicary to remove from a parked state :D . A flat bed is nessicary to tow that car...hells yeah.

Anyway, I'm looking at the security system as a long-term plan kinda thing, my first bit of electronic wizardry is going to be one of these: http://www.escortradar.com/sr7.htm I'm a big fan of driving ticket magnets, but not the tickets associated.
