last week i got my evic installed into my KJ from a 99 WJ. none of the programable features work at all but everything else does, so i looked in my manual and it calls it an EVIC but its just an OTIS with homelink. then i looked on the 2003 KJ manual on the internet and it calls it an EVIC and it looks exactly like mine does and it even lists out all the things it does. im a little bit confused as to what "EVIC" the 02 KJs have in them. i really want to use the programing features and the door adjar warning.

also, my libby came with a rear power outlet that WAS on the build sheet, but i pulled it out and looked at it and they never connected it to the wire harness. is it easy for me to take out the rear panels to get access to it so i can plug it back in?

One easy way to tell -

OTIS has a "US/M" button on it and also has the text printed on the housing, not on the buttons.

EVIC has the text printed right on the button.

If the rear power outlet isn't connected to anything it could be a couple reasons. When i was doing my hitch install i pulled that panel out and put some stress on the wiring, but it didn't come unplugged as there is a lock on the connector, do you have a hitch? Perhaps someone disconnected it to get more room pulling out the panel.

It's easy to pull out that corner to get to the harness and plug it back in. I just removed the trim across the bottom of the rear door opening, pull it up and off, it overlaps the side panel and you can't pull it out without removing it. Then you remove the screw in the spot where the cargo cover hooks into at the back. Then you can pull out the bottom of that rear corner. Flip down the right rear seat and it will give you a little more play to pull the panel out a bit more. Then you should be able to find the harness in there if its not plugged into the outlet.

Can't help you on the EVIC question, don't have one. One of these days i will snag a cheap EVIC and put one in my 03', just can't afford it after dropping cash on five new tires!
