oops(dunno)

the car turns over but will not start.

I had the car running for about 10 min after the wash but then it started briefly a couple hours later and died and then would not start.

I did not cover things like you should but usually do not have problems with my other vehicles.

Any ideas? I am assuming water got somewhere it should not.

do you think if it sits over night it will start in AM?

Jeep Liberty 2004 3.7L

Thanks!

distributor, coil ect are wet. Get in there with a airline and blow the water out. Has it started yet?

hi, thank you very much for helping.

update, still not starting. I undid one coil and put test spark plug in and got what appears to be good spark.

It would seem it is fuel pump or injector. I tested some of the fuses and the 15A starter relay AND 25A injector did not light up. However the fuse filament looks intact. I guess it is somewhere within the starter or injector circuits?

I swapped around some of the larger black relays in the fuse box. Didn't seem to do anything? I have not ruled out it still being a relay.

Have you ever seen a visually good fuse actually be bad?

What are some things I can do?

I did not go too crazy with the water.

Also when you first turn the key there is sort of a buzzing in engine bay that goes away in 3-5 sec then the car turns over strong.

thank you

Replace the fuse. Cheap, easy. Get some WD-40,Water Displacement Formula 40,spray out the connections to computers/whatever they are, unplug, spray out everything electric.

How is this working out... Are you up and running yet?

thanks for checking back. I think you were originally right.

I had to tow it to dealer and I feel like idiot. Had to listen to guy school me on how to wash an engine. whatev...

Anyhow, I think it was primarily just condensation and wetness in each of the 6 coils. I removed one and test fit a spark plug and got a spark so that is why I didn't think that was the problem before. I do not have the diagnostic equipment like I should.

Those fuses I thought were bad I mentioned above I believe were fine. I needed to test them while key was turned on or something. They were the 15A starter relay AND 25A injector.

Those coils look to have an O-ring on them that I thought that would keep water out?

How do you wash yours? Please don't tell me you're supposed to cover all electrical connections and not spray near coils...that is not realistic.

It's my first jeep but I have been cleaning my other engines on motorcycles and cars for years and this never happened.

I have question about the steering pump, hoses, and rack...are you familiar with these?

thanks

I generally do the same thing. I just dont hammer the "sensitive" stuff with high pressure water. Could be a bit of a fluke, no?

maybe fluke. I might have done a heavy dose of water. I just bought the jeep and wanted to give a good cleaning and get a "baseline" now that I have it. :)

it was a bit neglected and so I got it clean all right!! I will try to be a bit gentler on future engine bay cleansing
