Anyone ever done custom tow hooks on the front of an 02-04 kj? I want hooks but don't have the green to buy oem ones. A store here in my town sells hooks that are identical to the oem ones, minus the bracket. Any ideas for attaching those and making them useable (in regards to weight capacity)?

I thought about this too but in the end found a set for sale on the one of the forums. The way the hooks mount is kinda specific to the Liberty and Jeep didn't give us much room for options. Look in salvage yards and check the for sale section on the forums and sooner or later some will come up. Good Luck.

Somewhere between being sane and insane!
Just a opinion but if you can't afford the correct tow hooks maybe you should not be wheeling the vehicle.Should be saving the $$$ for maintenance items and emergency repairs, not mods for wheeling.

Not saying looking for a better deal is not wise or the best course but you stated you do not have the money to begin with and not just looking for a cheaper way.

Oh and yes there is a cheaper way but never seen any actually used in a recovery and I would not exactly trust them to hold up.

Firstly, I don't wheel it, it's a 4x2. I bought it as a tow vehicle. The fact that it's 4x2 is the reason I want hooks though, cause it won't perform as well in the snow/ice, which I get every year where I live (even though it's just a little). It'd be nice to have a way to be pulled out on the off chance I did get stuck. And, I never said I didn't have any money period. I said I didn't have the money for OEM's, aka new OEM's. I haven't seen any on ebay for a while. So, I am looking for a cheaper way.
