Last Saturday the engine on my '02 Liberty died. Not sure what happened; I stopped at a gas station to top up the tank and when I started the Jeep up again it was idling very rough. I was able to get away from the pumps and called a tow truck (AAA).

I had it towed to my mechanic and he said the engine died. They put a camera in a plug hole and said the top of the piston was gone.

I had no indication that that anything was amiss which is really baffling, but it was time to move on. I bought it used in '05 and personally put 200,000 miles on it.

I present to you my "new" '06 Grand Cherokee Laredo 4X4. It has the 4.7L V8, towing package, leather seats, and navigation with U-Connect.

I'm a little sad, but I've been needing a larger vehicle for a while and this is a very nice upgrade.

That thing is nice and loaded. Any plans for it?

Not really, besides driving the crap out of it.

It has the ****** Goodyear Wrangler tires on it but they are almost new, so I'm still debating with myself on spending the money to get Revo's this week instead of waiting for these to wear out.

Tow hooks will come next, and then, who knows...

Oh great, another low riding WK. :)

Lift and tires are needed immediately.

I priced the Revo's and since my "Wrangler" tires look new, I'll keep them for about 20K miles then replace them. My checking account has just taken a big hit.

The lift will come after that.

Let us know how you like the WK in comparison to the KJ after you get more seat time in it timmer.

As for the REVO's you mentioned, I am running them and they are a good A/T..... in my humble opinion anyway.

Will do Dave,

On the KJ, I had the Revo I, and the when they wore out I got the Revo II, which seems to be a smaller profile. Sadly, those were almost brand new when the KJ died.

As far as the KJ and WK differences, first thoughts...the KJ was like a go-kart compared to the station-wagon turning radius of the WK. The WK has power galore with the V8 though.

More thoughts later...

Just a thought - can you trade them in?

I bought my 2007 new, and when it had 10k on it I wanted new tires. Went to Discount Tire, and they offered me a $50/tire credit for them.

So, I got a set of (5) 245/70 Grabber AT2's for $440 out the door due to the $250 credit.

What did you do with the KJ?

I was in a rental car for over a week trying to find another Jeep that I liked, so I sold it to one of the people that works at the shop I bring it to. I just wanted to be rid of it and move on.

Strange thing is I have the REC navigation unit so one of the previous owners must have upgraded it at one point. There are two listed owners in the CARFAX report, and they both had it serviced at a local Jeep dealer.
