So I just bought by my first Jeep, an 06 KJ, a few months ago (used), and I've had some things fixed, and fixed some myself. Seeing as I am out of money, I plan to only have things fixed that are covered by the warantee.

anyway, when i had the BCM replaced the tech said i also needed my 'range sensor' replaced and this would solve my problem of the 'part time' light being on when i am in 2-hi, and being off when i am in part time. my confusion stems from the estimate they gave me.the estimate says the part needed is the 'switch transfer case'. have any of you had similar fixes or have any idea what i need to do to fix this? thanks in advance.

position selector switch - happens repeatedly for me, every winter, then goes away.

google it and you will see it all over the internet, its a POS issue that is common, annoying.

thanks.

do you know if its hard to replace, or would i be better off (financially) ignoring it until it corrects itself?

edit: i guess really; is it okay to leave it until it fixes iteself then if it doesnt eventually replace it?

it is ontop of the transfer case, sorta a bltch to get at, but you can. its is an electrical plug.

some here say that you should get it fixed since the pcm thinks you are in part time the torque is changed.

I have had this issue the past three years, unplugging and plugging back in does fix it for me, but you may try? it isnt an expensive part <100 I think so its your call. just don't take it to a dealer for diagnostic, they will charge diagnostic fee to tell you it needs to be replaced.

i had the diagnostics run when i got my BCM replaced, and since i was already paying them for the BCM they didnt charge me for it. thankfully, since i could get an OBD II for ten dollars more than the diagnostics charge.

I will definately see if unpluging then plugging it back in does the trick, hopefully it does.

im having a hard time finding maint procedures for the part. kopkrab.gif do i have to take the t-case off; or is it just an up and around, but difficult thing?

sorry to keep popping up new question's, and im sure that the answer is right in front of my nose on google. Any specific sites you would suggest, or perhaps this has already been addressed here? if it has let me know and i will look agian.

thanks

i have the chiltons manual 02-04. ive found that most things are the same ive noticed.

and jeepjeepster: its relieving to know i dont have to. that looked like a PITA. and it does sound wrong, almost like after a keg party "so i was underneath then i just reached up and around and unplugged it." hahaha

thanks to you both.
