stuttering or missfire or something

I have a 2003 liberty with the 3.7 and a 5spd.

i was noticing it most in 3rd gear, stuttering bad, felt like it would stall out. then today i had the same thing happen in 2nd gear.

i made sure all hoses are nice and secure (although i would love to replace them all, some craching, but doesnt seem to be an issue), the pcv was replaced, oil good, new air filter too.

im pretty sure my plugs are still from factory. i have a good 140000km on it. so theyre getting replaced tomorrow.

im noew to driving stick, but i highly doubt its a clutch or ****** issues, but it has been suggested before. anyone else run in to this before? any other suggestions as to what i should look for.

and yes, i searched, search failed me or i failed the search


EDIT: i should also add, its all stock. no check engine light, ever

Replace those plugs man! Seriously though, when I bought my jeep it had 74k on it, and was sputtering bad, replaced the plugs and bingo good to go. Start there with yours. When troubleshooting I always replace the easy/hard to get/cheap parts first. Then move down the ignition system til you find what it was!

for sure. needs a tuneup no doubt. but im planning to get this fixed tomorrow if possible. really hope to get some more ideas as i am in no way familiar with this kind of engine. i was really confused the first time i opened the hood and saw plastic intake and no plug wires lol. if it doesnt have plug wires, cap and rotor, its newer than what im comfortable with.

Coil On Plug-COP- There are a few HowTo's here about changing plugs/coils. If you could do an older vehicle this is even simpler

are the coils on the 3.7 the same as on the 4.7? going to visit a buddy today with a spare 4.7...

and yeah, it doesnt look 'hard', its just not what ive been used to

My GUESS on coils is they are the same. If it is not missing just change plugs-use copper-no need for fancy stuff.

historically ive always used the ngk vpower plugs. ive seen them mentioned here a few times along with the champion plugs. plugs are cheap, so if i have any issues with my trusted ngk, ill swap em out.
