Strange noises!!!

So I just started to hear some weird noises coming from my jeep that would sound like they were gears moving inside of some fluid. I've narrowed it down to this..... Either a bad ac condenser/compresser or just a bad ac clutch. Do I need to replace the entire unit, or can I just change the clutch?

Im in the same boat. it sounds like a terrible rod knock with the heat or AC on. mines getting changed when winter hits

and id just go with a full unit (new if you can afford it) if you plan on keeping the jeep
